So my sister was telling me that she saw something across our street (not going into detail) and now she’s petrified. She can’t sleep from fear. Can y’all give me some advice for calming her down cause I have no idea how

How old is she? You could always offer to sleep in her room with her for the night. It kinda depends on the situation how serious you should take it (like do you need to call the cops or something to check the area?) But the best thing regardless of the details would probably be to distract her and help keep her mind off of it until she’s calm, by like watching something or playing a game with her, etc.

I agree with @xdarkfirex: you should do something that is appropriate for the seriousness of whatever she saw and also appropriate for her age.If what your sister saw, was a crime, you should call the police. If it was an accident and someone got injured, call an ambulance. If she thinks she saw a ghost or something else that is not real, explain to her that it is not real. Are your parents home or are you able to somehow get into contact with your parents or another adult you trust who might be able to help you in this situation? Your parents should know what to do. |

@xdarkflex @halokiwi she’s nine. She says that she saw someone pacing back and forth across our street, but no one else has seen it. Not even our neighbors who were called immediately. My parents don’t think much of it, but my sister doesn’t scare easy. It’s strange I’ve never seen her this terrified, that’s why I think she’s telling the truth. She’s always been an outdoor kid, but she’s now petrified to go outside. I’ve been talking to her about it, helping her by doing her favorite things, but she REFUSES to go outside.

When did she see the person? Did she see the person multiple times or just once? If it was just once and a while ago, you could use that to reason to her that there's no need to be afraid. If it happened multiple times, there might be reason to be concerned. Can she describe why the person scared her? A person pacing back and forth might not be something to immediately worry about. Maybe they were waiting for someone or they didn't know the way. Try explaining that to her. Your sister is scared of something, but it might not be this person that she is scared of. Maybe she is afraid of something else and made the person up to explain her fear. If no one else saw the person, maybe it wasn't there after all. Try figuring out what she is actually afraid of. Maybe she also imagined the person. I remember one time as a child, I was playing with my aunt's bunnies' and it appeared to me like a hand was reaching into the hutch. There was no person that was there and I knew that, but it still scared me. |

@halokiwi she says she saw it Three days ago and last night. She says the person stopped and looked around multiple times, then resumed pacing very quickly. She pointed out where she saw said person and out was in front of a vacant lot, so I don’t think they were waiting on anyone

Does your sister have a phone or can she borrow yours for the night? Then she could take a photo or video of the person, if the person returns. She could also call you, so you can also take a look at the person. |
