Does anyone here dance West Coast Swing?How long have you been dancing? Do you dance as a leader or a follower or both? What do you love most about West Coast Swing? How did you get into it? Which country are you from and is it well known there? I started dancing West Coast Swing in April. I had seen a video of it that I thought looked really cool and that I want to try it. Before seeing that video I had never heard of it. I looked up, where I could learn it in my area and was lucky to find out that my university offers classes, so I signed up and am now absolutely in love with this dance. I dance as a follower, but I also want to learn to lead at some point. I like that you can choose any role you like independent from your gender. What I love most is the community. I only know the other people from my university, because I've never been at another place to dance, but everyone is so welcoming and open. After the class there is always a social dance, where we come together and just dance. It's fun to meet new people and to dance with people with different skill levels. It's so cool that I as a beginner can dance with someone more advanced than me and somehow it works out. I'm from Germany. West Coast Swing does not seem to be well known here. When I tell people about it, they mostly don't know what it is. |
