@fishyknots Im actually competing against his child this weekend. He’s on french horn though. i really hope I can take home the title of international champion with hopefully the cash prize. I received 50$ for winning nationals but for Worlds it’s $300

I play flute and clarinet! Been playing flute for 3-4 years and clarinet for 1. In 6th and 7th I was first chair (sorta, but we didn’t really have that but I know I was the best flute/the only one that actually liked band). Then I switched schools and it got a lot better!

Yea!My first school my band director he actually tried but since it was required in 6th and 7th grade most the kids didn’t care. Me and two other 7th graders that year went with the 8th grade band to an amusement park for a competition because we bc were above the rest of the band. We also had to combine w 8th grade for our spring concert to actually sound good(ish)…..

Then I switched schools and I liked this schools band so much better!!!! Kids actually wanted to participate and got quiet when he wanted us to!!!

@leviOsa_09 oh required band does not sound fun! I've been playing 1-3 years longer than most of the band kids my age but hopefully this year will be better bc I'll be in the most advanced band (we had to audition) and they sound SO amazing!

@leviOsa_09 my old band director literally did not do ANYTHING, he never conducted us or talked about the music ever! we sounded like trash. so my band was absolutely clueless when we got a new teacher and they were so mean to him I felt so bad

I recently learned how to play the clarinet and the drums like at the end of last year. I tried ukulele before and I played piano for almost 3 years when I was really young (so I barley remember anything now lol). I really want to try saxophone and trombone but I think I need a bit more practice on the I instruments I can currently play right now.

technically not in band but i’m in percussion and we interact with the band a lot and i play drums (duh) and the marimba

hey!! i am a proud alto sax player of about 5/6 years and i do both marching and concert band!! my only tip is just listen to the band direction and drum/section leaders (however your band does leadership) because it makes things run smoothly!! i also really encourage everybody to try out and run for a leadership
