Where are my fellow BAND KIDS at?!Here is a space for all band kids to unite! What instrument do you play, how long have you been playing, and what band(s) are you in? And if you have any tips for band in general, or your specific instrument, please leave them here! I play the clarinet, I've been playing since 4th grade. Next school year I will be in Wind Ensemble which I auditioned for so I'm really excited and proud about that! 🌟 |

I play trombone, sax, ukulele, trumpet, flute, piano and acoustic and electric guitarwell those are the ones I have I actually Playyyyy trombone sax trumpet ukulele and sometimes flute. I'm first chair trombone in the schools concert band, and there are no chairs in jazz band but I play alto sax in there - I played bari ((baritone saxophone)) for the first semester last year- TIPS Flute, sax NEVER PUT CORK GREASE ON THE METAL PARTS ON THE NECK OF THE INSTRUMENT TO "GET IT IN THERE EASIER" ITS NOT MEANT TO GO ON METAL AND CAN LITERALLY GET THE NECK STUCK ONTO THE BODY OF THE INSTRUMENT but of course it's fine for the cork. Trombone players SLIDE GREASE IS USELESS. its not recommended by professionals. It doesn't last long and you'll waste it and there's so many other things to use such as trombotine and slide lubricants like Yamaha slide grease euphonium, tuba, trumpet, other valved instruments don't use Vaseline ever, idk why you would even get that idea but don't , it gets stuck, and dirty ALSO if your valves are stuck like they won't come out, don't bang it, ask your band director and they likely have a mallet that's safe for instruments and will lightly tap it to come off Trumpet Don't curl your right pinky under the pinky rest instead rest it on top. also don't scrunch your fingers on top of the valves, it makes it harder to move them really quick, and it's just more resistance. Since 2020 @fishyknots My band director actually got fired so i was self taught until 2022 and worked my tail off to compete
