Hey, ive not been on here in a while but since there are a lot of Americans on here I thought i'd stop by. I'm going to Washington DC from the UK with my girl guide/scout in august and thought I'd ask if any of you have some things we must do when there, we are obviously planning on visiting the main memorials and museums but if you know of any specific exhibits or hidden gems I would love to know!! I would also like to ask about any ettiquette/culture points that you think are worth knowing, just so I can be mindful. Thanks!!

my fav monument is the korean war memorial bc itโ€™s very haunting and beautiful. any of the smithsonian museums are amazing and highly recommend. one thing that idk if uโ€™d be able to do w a tour group but going on a bike tour is a really cool way to see the memorials and monuments while also getting some rlly interesting background info. idk that there are any huge etiquette points just like donโ€™t litter and disrespect the monuments or museum staff. lmk if thereโ€™s anything else u wanna know. enjoy dc!

It isn't really a memorial but I love the National Cathedral. There are the obvious aspects that any religious person might enjoy. But for the non religious tourist, the architecture alone is worth a visit. The stained glass windows there are breathtaking, and one even has a piece of rock from the moon! There's also a small stone bust of Darth Vader's helmet on the outside, lining the roof. And if that isn't your thing, the garden there is just magical. I'm not religious but I could spend all day exploring that place. There is so much to learn, I even think a girl scout troop could find something there to relate to a lesson or badge.
