When I was like 6 my dad bought me a huge box of beads for bracelets and then when I was like 10 I found BraceletBook and started making these bracelets and a few bookmarks

My dad wanted a bracelet so I picked up on it was really hard at first, but I soon got the hang of it I do: Crocheting, bracelets, track n field (I’m short but really fast) and I have a business with my friends.

I got a kit for Christmas in 2019 that showed how to read patterns and it just had the chevron, candystripe and like the weird loose heart pattern that's on here somewhere, but that's what taught me how to read patterns and I started finding patterns just randomly on the internet, found friendship-bracelets.net, started making really cool bracelets and selling them, then found bb and here I am (bb got me out of a slump too so that's a win!)

My boyfriend bought two leather bracelets for 7 euros a piece on holiday on Gran Canaria. They both succumbed within a month. His birthday was fairly soon so I secretly started making bracelets so I could give him a new one for his birthday. I loved it so I also started making bracelets for myself and my friends' birthdays.

During the middle of the year, I started noticing my friend (who also uses BB) was wearing some knotted bracelets that looked really cool, and she seemed to be constantly making those bracelets. After a bit, I decided I wanted to try it since my friend seemed to love it so much. (And I might've been a little curious of all the time she was spending on BB...) I tried making a chevron (it was HORRIBLE), then two daisy chains (more like lines than chains)..., and an unfinished bracelet. As you can see, I'm not the most avid bracelet maker, but it's still cool.

I started on a trip with my cousin but I would just do little Chinese staircases and braid string. Eventually, my mom bought me this book with more complicated things in it. Once I finished most of the book, I would look up patterns on Google, but most of them were from bracelet book. I signed up very recently and yesterday, I started my first Alpha!

I had tried making one a couple times before, but i just didn't understand it, not sure why. Then the next time i tried it just clicked...now it all makes perfect sense and i enjoy doing harder patterns. Someday ill try on of those 60+ string patterns but as of now, those still scare me a little lol

I guess it all started out when my brother stole some of the string from my kid's sewing kit (the string was actually, like, embroidery floss) and tried to learn. He never did, but then I tried to learn too. I never did, until almost two years ago now! For Christmas almost two years ago my wonderful aunt and uncle (I love them so much, they are quite possibly among the best people on this earth) got me one of those "My Friendship Bracelet Maker" boards for Christmas! I couldn't put it down once I finally started knotting. At first the bracelets were, in short, hideous. But then I started making them for my friends for their birthdays. In around June of the following year I discovered braceletbook and then it became... like a genuine problem cause i was making bracelets SO much. But I've changed so much because of it! I love being able to cheer people up and make their day by giving them a gift on their birthday that I truly took time and effort to make and chose uniquely just for them. I hope that I continue making bracelets for many years to come. It's also improved my attention span I feel, because I actually have to sit down and have the stamina to just knot for hours and hours on end and get a project done lol.sorry for the long paragraph guys. When you give me one prompt i'll end up spilling my whole life story. wOoPS |

I was really into making tiny props for my figurines at some point and decided to make matching bracelets for two of them. Then I started making them for me, learned how to read normal patterns, discovered Braceletbook and that’s all really.

I saw on a craft forum someone's Kumihimo bracelets and gave them a try, that was 4 years ago, i taught my granddaughters how to do simple ones, then came ockdown and i didn't see them again for months. I picked it up again recently and became addicted to making them. Then i found this site and wow! The bracelets are brilliant here, so i joined here a couple of days ago. I so wanted to do a Normal knotted but didn't know where to start, i read a tutorial and watched Marsha Knots, and today finally i can brag, i fully understood how to do them and made one. I am so pleased, it's not p 👍 ❤️ erfect by any means, but it's an achievement all the same. |
