So, I'm new-ish to knotting as a craft and I consider myself an absolute beginner but I'm also kind of okay with how my alphas turn out (not so much the normal patterns).

I'm used to always feeling like a fraud in any crafting hobby I take up because I find a new hyper-obsession every year or so, and never really stick with anything.

So I was wondering: Those of you who have been making bracelets/wallhangings/bookmarks for years now, do you also feel like "I hope nobody finds out that I'm actually just faking confidence in this" or does that go away after you stuck with knotting a while? (Or did you maybe never feel like this at all?)

I haven’t really felt like that when I was making bracelet because i started on quarantine so nobody could really find out unless i wanted them to lol. but i do understand what you mean. honestly though, a lot of my friends just don’t really understand it…. so i would say it definitely goes away after a while. but also, don’t feel like you’re a fraud for doing something you enjoy. if you enjoy doing it, even if it’s only for a little bit, then judt enjoy it! bc that what hobbies are for. i hope this helped 😊

Defo relate to fixating on a new hobby every so often! But it shouldn't stop you from enjoying it 🤗 when I started making bracelets it was basically unheard of in my high school so I never felt like I was faking confidence, I just tried to feel accomplished every time I made something and it looked better than the last time, or it took me less time than before.
You're definitely not a fraud for liking a craft or being proud of your creations! Even if you're just passing through there's always opportunity to learn and improve. And even if you stop at some point or take extended breaks you're still allowed to say you make alphas 😊 I took a v long break from making friendship bracelets but I still used to say it's something I liked to do in the moment. So don't worry! 💕💕

Thank you both for your replies!
Maybe I'm just being a bit awkward when talking about hobbies. It's not like I claim to be good at them when I say I do them, but it still feels like lying. It's silly though, it's just a weird feeling.
