I went into my moms office this morning to get a paper and she looked at me and asked if I gained weight recently....
There's a lot of other things but I was wondering if anybody else had problems like this with their parents?

hey, me too! I know I'm slightly overweight but still a very healthy weight. My parents always highlight the importance of exercise, which I agree with but they kind of always highlight my weight too. I'm 13, almost 14 and weigh nearly 110 pounds. I'm not sure if that's unhealthy but it does hurt when they say that I'm getting fat 🙁

@PugCakePop no, that seems like a healthy weight! I'm 15 and 90 pounds tho which prolly isn't very healthy but I dunno my mom is a model who has a PeRfEcT body (so is my sister) and like I dunno it's kinda just a lotta pressure, yk?

wow tbh that's seems like you're underweight (prolly not idk) but there are a lot of factors which play into having a healthy weight (height, diet, fitness) and there are different types of weight (muscle mass, fat, etc) this probably doesn't mean much but I think you're a good weight! Don't try to lose too much weight because of pressure, because even if you have a "good body" you won't feel like it due to constant pressure from others. Not sure if that made sense but-

honestly it depends how tall you are and what that weight is composed of. if your “overweight” for your height, but it’s mainly muscle, don’t worry about it, but if your “overweight” and it’s not muscle, then i’d try to convert some of the weight into muscle, but it’s your body, your choice, that’s just me, who comes from an athletic family

also perfect body isn’t necessarily healthy, most models are underweight, depending on what they model

@xc2024 I agree with all of that, see, the thing is, I'm 5'6 and weigh 90 pounds. Weight is distributed differently for everyone though.

You have a BMI of 14.5. If anything I’d be trying to gain weight and muscle. Cause I’m a bit older and weigh 103.
Yet I’m a bit shorter then you and everyone tells me I should maintain or gain weight.
Don’t let anyone convince you you’re overweight, as that can have long term consequences

BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
Overweight = 25–29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

@excuse_me that was me a few years ago, while yes it wouldn’t hurt to gain weight in the form of muscle, i wouldn’t worry about it too much, as long as you are not skipping meals and feel healthy. it’s a different story when you don’t feel ok, like your stomach hurts, or your tired all the time, or lightheaded, but if you feel good, then that’s just how your body works. also after 3 years of xc and lifting consistently, i’m 5’7 and 110 lbs, yet i look like i’m so much healthier now, so the number on the scale means nothing

I defo wouldn't worry too much about it, family members have a weird obsession with size and it's usually never in a good way
For reference I've been trying to gain weight/muscle and my relatives would be like "noo you should stay the same size like when you were in high school" - but looking back on pics of myself I was extremely bony and i do nottt wanna look like that now. So I get a lot of comments abt me putting on size but little do they know I'm happy to hear it 🤪

But as a 15 y/o you should be enjoying life and not worrying about weight at all! You can keep active in ways you like and eat as much as you're comfortable with bc you're still growing! And weight on a scale means nothing at times bc water weight will always be fluctuating and muscle weighs more than fat so ppl can still be small-framed and muscular but weigh a lot and that doesn't mean they're overweight in any way

I'm sorry you have to endure comments like that but stand your ground. and if you feel healthy and confident in yourself then that's all that's important rn 💕💕

no way, if ur 5’6 and weight 90 that’s no where near somewhat overweight. im 5’6 and 155. and people still tell me im skinny. like u said before, weight is distributed differently between ppl. but if ur mom is asking u if u gained weight at 5’6 and 90 lbs, then ur mom has an extreme disproportionate sense of a healthy weight. don’t listen to here

I’m 14 and 5’6 and 180 lbs but not considered overweight because I have a lot of muscle. Your family also has a lot to do with how much you weigh. For example, I have 8 close relatives that are obese so my parents are a little lenient on my weight because it is not entirely my fault for my weight. Also once again I’m really muscular. But my advice is. Enjoy life. It is the only one you get
