Wider normal patterns(40+ strings) seem like they don't take as long as smaller patterns, because they have longer segments of one color since they are larger.

@xc2024 never read the English original but I found this German translation, don't know if it's the complete bookhttps://bilder.buecher.de/zusatz/32/32211/32211158_lese_1.pdf According to Wikipedia Sam-I-am was changed to Jetzt-kommt-Jack (Now-comes-Jack). This way the name rhymes with the German word "Speck" which means bacon. So I think they probably just change names and details to make it work as well as possible. I find it super interesting too. I've recently seen a video where the German translations of the songs from the movie Encanto were compared to the original songs. Of course some bits don't work as well as in the original but there were also parts that worked as well or even better. I think when it comes to translating it's always a give and take of how close you can stay to the original and how much creative changes you have to make to make it work well. |
