Hey y'all i'm planning on getting a betta fish! I have a 10 gallon tank i will be using. If anyone has any tips on care, plants, or tankmates please lmk! It will be very appreciated!

Hello! I’ve had a couple of bettas, so I know the routine pretty well. Great start with the 10 gallon tank! Sadly, many people think that tiny tanks are fine for bettas (or any fish), which is not the case at all! You want to give your fish the most swimming room possible! I’d really recommend live plants. They’re kind of expensive, but totally worth it! They won’t cut your betta’s fins (I’ve had this happen before, and it caused him to get fin rot), they help with the oxygen level in the water, and they help prevent algae. I wouldn’t recommend tank mates until you’re pretty experienced. You have to be careful about your betta’s stress level and how aggressive he is to other creatures. I’ve found that bettas don’t really “get lonely”. As long as you feed him a great diet, engage with him, and clean his tank properly, you’ll have a beautiful fish to enjoy for years!
