Sooo, I have a bad habit of pulling out my eyelashes and eyebrows. Now, I'm kinda embarrassed about this, so please don't make fun of me. I was looking at ways to break this habit earlier today ( it has been going on as long as I can remember) when I stumbled along the term "Trichotillomania". This is a condition that gives some people a urge to pull out their hair from around their scalp, their eyebrows or their eyelashes. I think there is a chance I could have developed this and I was wondering if anyone who has this condition could maybe help me? Idk. I'm scared to tell my parents ( the embarrassment thing) and wanted to get other people's advice before I tell this to my mom. If you have advice, you can respond here, or send me a message if you are not comfortable. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

have no idea if this will help because it’s a pretty silly solution but i just put on nice mascara and eyebrow gel and it helped me stop picking because i didn’t want to mess up my makeup!

heyy so i have this. i pick my hair from the top of my head and i had a bald spot on my scalp for a while and now my hair sticks up because it’s growing back and it’s too short to get incorporated into my other hair. my mom thinks it’s because my ponytails are too tight but i really just pick my hair out. she still doesn’t know. I do think that putting gel or mascara on your eyebrows and eyelashes would help. for me it’s really hard to stop because i convince myself that i need to do it. i convince myself it feels good to pick out my hair but in reality, it hurts. Try maybe getting blue light glasses or wearing prescription glasses if you have them. it’ll keep you from touching your eyes. as for the eyebrows, you’ll probably just have to discipline yourself to not do it, i know that’s not much of an answer, but whenever i have the urge, i put cold water in the area i want to pick, or scribbling on paper helps too sometimes. or i’ll be really close to doing it and i’ll just distract myself and start patting my head until the urge goes away. its gonna take time but you’ll get there. message me if you have any questions
