Dear 2022,
2021 was quite the roller coaster. And even though it was wayy better than 2020, it still kinda sucked :/
We had good moments, like when things started to calm down over the summer, but we also had bad moments, like when the delta and omicron variants started shaking things up. But the one thing that 2021 did bring for us was our lives back. And while our new lives were far from normal, most of us still got to go to school, see our friends, be on sports teams, and get at least some sense of normalcy back. All I ask of you, 2022, is to continue bringing good things for us. Be that boost of positivity the world needs right now. I know 2021 is leaving you in kind of a bad spot, but I believe that you can guide us in the right direction. And hey, as long as you’re better than 2020, I think it’ll be a pretty good year in our books.

Dear 2021,
You were a pretty ok year, I guess. You did a heck of a lot better than your predecessor, 2020. And while you did give us quite the roller coaster ride, you gave us some pretty positive things too. I’m not happy to see you go, but I am looking forward to the things the new year will bring us. I guess what I’m trying to say is… thanks for a pretty good year (:
You won’t be forgotten. <3

Dear 2021,

You definitely shook things up for my ʻohana (family) particularly my mom and brother and not in a good way. For that reason, there is a part of me that is happy to see you go.

Yet, each day held blessings because of Ke Akua (God) because I woke up to each one. I made memories with the people I love. I enjoyed being back in the classroom with my students. My beautiful niece made me a grandAunty. 🥰

My other nieces asked me to make friendship bracelets for them and started sending me screenshots off the wide! 🤪😂 They reminded me of so many happy childhood memories spent with my Grandma who taught me how to embroider and cross stitch. 🥰💖 When friendship bracelets became a thing, she bought me a whole colorful set of embroidery skeins just for that purpose, “This to make those bracelets only. Your other basket is for when we embroider together.” Gosh, I miss her so much. Mahalo (thank you) for giving this passion and love back to me because I cannot help but smile and giggle whenever I am working on a bracelet thinking about her.

To you, 2021 I have a lot of mixed feelings. All in all, you were not all good and not all bad. Mahalo (thank you) for quite the year. Goodbye!

Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year) to all! 🎉🥳🎊🤩 Mahalo he nui loa (thank you so much) for having such a welcoming and friendly community here. Please enjoy your Eve with ʻohana (family) and hoaaloha (friends) safely and with many more great memories to end 2021🤗🥰. It’s only 7:22 p.m. here and it will be a quiet one for me as my keiki (children) are spending it with the families of their “other halves” (daughter is 24 in Colorado and my son is 17 with his wahine [girl/girlfriend] right down the road at her mom’s). I am at that age (soon to be 50) where I want them to have their own memories and not feel obligated to have to spend it with me. Besides with my cancer and chemo, it is best this way. 🤗

E kala mai iaʻu (Excuse me) for being so wordy. Feel free to ignore. 🤣😂🤣 No seriously, feel free to ignore this. Lol
