Hi everyone!! Merry Christmas!

So I just got a Cricut machine for Christmas and I was wondering if y’all had any tips for how to make projects turn out at great as possible, and maybe any tips on how to set up the machine. I’m watching a bunch of tutorials now, but if you have any tips or tricks, please share!!

Btw, I got the Cricut Explore Air 2. (:

Don't buy materials from cricut themselves. personally I find it overpriced and it's cheaper to find something elsewhere like amazon and it's typically a lot more. However, I do recommend you buy some of the basic tools, mats and other items from cricut, but extra blades and cutting tools are better to buy somehwere else.

- When taking paper off the mat, flip the mat face down on the surface and peel the MAT away from the surface, that way the card doesn't bend
- Dafont (.) com is a great place to download fonts and upload them into the cricut maker space
- Watch youtube videos about how to make cards and etc
- The maker space is full of so many great free templates that you don't need cricut access to, try to use one of those.
- Buy different colored pens that you an use in the machine, it creates really cool designs and different colors for different projects
- IF YOUR MAT STOPS STICKING DO NOT THROW IT AWAY. clean it
- Always, ALWAYS, cover your mat with the clear protective sheet after you are done with a project and clean the mat of any debri with the scraper tool
- When dealing with transfer tape, don't just rip it off, carefully remove it, and if the sticky paper that you are trying to transfer is coming up, then scrape your tool over the tape and the paper

Don't know if i made sense, but i hope that helps. Also, cricut access if also useful, but definietly not necessary to make some amazing creations! Happy crafting!

@MoonShad0w // I made a cute label with my name that I put on my clear starbucks cup and it turned out perfectly!! I will definitely have to check out more templates, and I do agree that the cricut materials are a bit overpriced. My parents got me this big pack of different color vinyl sticker paper, so I have a bunch of that!! And I will also make sure to try cleaning the mat if it loses its stickiness. Thanks again for all of the tips! 😁❤️

hi I recently got a cricut machine too! I don’t really have any tips other than if you want to use pens other than the cricut ones there’s a good tutorial on youtube for it idr what it’s called but you could probably find it just by searching for it cause the cricut pens are definitely over priced. I also just wanted to ask anyone who sees this what do you make or plan to make with your cricut cause I’m not really sure what to do with mine other than make stickers and I want to do more but I also don’t want to spend to much money doing it

@Hk14 I’m still trying to figure that out as well, but so far, I made a cute vinyl decal for my starbucks cup, and I also decorated a cute glass with some gold vinyl. I’m currently looking into getting heat transfer vinyl so that I can make cheer bows for my team as well.

@Hk14 the only thing I’d say is that if you’re doing stuff with text, don’t buy the cricut fonts. You can easily go to websites like fontspace and download cute fonts for free, instead of paying 4 dollars for a font that you’ll probably only ever use that one time. 🙂

nev_m_07 yeah i still haven’t gotten any vinyl yet i just hate how expensive it is and you have to get individual colors so I’m trying to find printable versions but they’re kinda hard to find for different uses

oops did not mean to do that! first of all, buy vinyl from amazon, its WAYYYY cheaper and better! also make sure to always mirror stuff when you are using iron on. (ive wasted too much vinyl because of that). also when you are layering iron on vinyls, cover any previous iron ons with plastic or dont put heat against it as it can burn. when your mat isn’t sticky anymore i recommend using this “awesome” spray from Dollar Tree which you just spray on, use the scraper to get any dirt off, and wipe it. once it dries it will be sticky again!

sharpies work well instead of cricut pens because they are cheaper and more colors! u can also use thin crayola markers with those gel pencil grips so they stay in the pen holder. if u need something done in cursive make sure to do it on a different website or something because cursive on cricut doesnt attach and all the letters are cut separate! i hope this helps (:

@allialexis tysm for the tips! I will definitely try using the scraper tool to clean my mat bc it got dirty and whatever I did to clean it just made it worse. And I didn’t even think about the sharpies!! I bought a huge pack of sharpies recently that came with like 50 colors, so I’ll definitely try it out!

@Hk14 idk if they have a hobby lobby near you, but the hobby lobby brand of vinyls is really good and it’s super cheap! It has a bunch of patterns and glitters and stuff like that! Also, amazon has a lot of really great vinyls for super cheap, so you should definitely check there as well! 😄

Also when you slide your Matt into the machine try to elevate and push it into it if it makes sense, and save your scraps!
