Soooo this is gonna be long... sorry not sorry. 😂I'm in need of some movies that have good representation of the Lgbtq+ community. Preferably family friendly-ish. I'm hoping to watch a few movies with my dad cuz I recently came out and the two of us watching movies is our way of spending time together. I feel like it'll open up conversation a little easier cuz it's still a little bit hard for me to talk about it. Doesn't have to be focused on that character, they could be in the background but just any good representation would be nice. I'm annoyed that all the movies I can find have "adult" scenes in them, but there's SO MANY straight love stories showing up everywhere, that are aimed at all ages (like even disney princesses have love stories! Why can't we? 😔) but as soon as its queer representation it's always VERY FAR from family friendly. Or sometimes even rated not by the content itself but by the fact that there's anything related to the Lgbtq+ community. Anywaaaays lmk if you know of any good movies 😂 |

Umm here's a few movies I like if that'll help lolI watched the Disney show diary of a future president and that was good but it's sadly too long to watch with him. Same for Love, Victor. Very good but too long lol Love, Simon is first in the list to watch with him. I loooove that movie! The Prom was super good, I loved it but he's not into musicals :/ The half of it was good as far as I remember I might watch that with him. Cinderella (the Amazon prime version) I thought that the fairy godmother was awesome. We've both already seen it multiple times. Cruella was super good, (: Artie was one of my favorite people in the movie. So far nobody agrees with meeeee.. also seen it multiple times Big daddy is one of my favorite movies of all time, like top 3 of all movies ever 😂 |

this prob isn’t that helpful sorry, i don’t know many LGBTQIAP movies, but maybe you guys could listen to audiobooks together? i feel like the amount of well represented media of LGBT is wider in books…. if you’d like i can give you some recommendations on that. ik there’s like those cooking shows where sometimes they have a married couple season or sth and they’re in a gay relationship idk. im sorry i can’t help anymore w movies.

some really good lgbtqia books i recommend are they both die at the end, the ghosts we keep, ummm, ik i’ve read more but i can’t remember them. but ill get back to u on that! i’ve heard that song of achilles as my friend has said “sad and gay” so you could do that as well

I also don't know super many movies/series but a good start would be browsing netflix or whichever streaming service you use for some.Here are some netflix series with lgbt characters that I enjoyed: - ragnarok - julie and the phantoms - atypical - i am not okay with this - the society - young royals Here are some movies that I enjoyed - handsome devil - let it snow (It's christmas themed so it would be perfect to watch now) - alex strangelove - dancing queens - wild chicks in love (I doubt that you'll be able to find this movie because it's a German movie but it was one of my favourite childhood movies and probably the first movie I saw with a lesbian character) |
