Hi!
Girls only please! (Or people with periods)
I got my period about a month ago, and I want to get a tracker app. The problem is that all the apps I want automatically send a request to my Dad to approve them. I don’t really want to talk about it with him because he pretends to get all grossed out.
Thank you in advance!

Well, if you wanna try and solve the problem at the root, try talking to him and tell him it’s not ok to be grossed out by this and it makes you feel uncomfortable. Try explaining your perspective of things to him.
However, I know this is tough so maybe you can involve your mother in this, or another adult who has periods. Try asking them if they can approve the app.
Quick question: what app are you using?

(i am assuming you have an apple phone but I am so sorry if u don't so if you don't just ignore these next few sentences)
On apple they have an app called the health app which is an app that you should already have on your phone
if you go onto the app they have a period tracker that you can set up and you can have it send notifications for when your next period is coming up 😌

but like the person above me said you should try to talk to your parents about approving getting the app. ik it might be a bit awkward but its something that you really need and I'm sure they will understand.

hope this helped you ❤️

If you have an Apple phone then it should have a “health app” if you go into that and click browse, then you should see a list of things, click “cycle tracking” and you can set it up. I use that app for a similar reason and it is VERY accurate with my period, you can even set it up so that you can get notifications.

@knotnormal @PugCakePop I set it up a few days ago, and for the past few days it said I had a possible period day, starting tomorrow it was a predicted period day. I got it today, so the app was pretty correct! It was a nice heads up.

talking about it with him would help, make it known that it's pretty essential, otherwise i would look into diffusing the parental controls, totally worth it

If all the above fails for some reason, you could consider doing it 'manually' on your Calendar app (assuming you know roughly how many days your cycle typically consists of). You can do this by making entries for when your first days of each period are, and then make an entry on the estimated end-of-cycle date as well, and set an alert for the latter to notify you say, a week or 2 days in advance of that date.

You could always use the regular notes app on your phone, or a journal to take notes of what days, symptoms, things like that. I use the notes app and just set it to lock with my fingerprint so people can't get into it. Just a side note: everyone is different, but especially when you're younger, it may not be the same time every month for the first little while and so setting alarms an such might not be the most accurate for the first little while. So rather than that I'd recommend listening to the signs from your body to get a sense of when it's coming, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. And just take notes of it day by day. But... I'm NOT a doctor!!! And like I said everyone is different, so take what you will. Good luck with your parents if you talk to them! ✨

If you have an iPhone the health app automatically is installed on your phone, you can track your cycle on there ❤️❤️

I mark a day on my digital calendar with a ‘p’ and have it send a notification a couple days before so I’m not surprised, I do recommend using a pad a few days prior if your period is prone to change

I had that problem too where my dad had to approve of apps, but he took it off. Ik most girls like to use a planner but I have enough goin on already so it was too much work. I just go abt my days and I’ll think at random points “when did I last have my period?” And if it was around 2 weeks ago that’s when I’ll start to be cautious, darker pants, thicker underwear…etc. if u have ppl at school who ur close with that also have periods, agree to all keep pads in ur backpacks in case one of u needs them. I’m the oldest girl in my class and my friend who is second oldest in my class got her’s first, then I got mine a month later on July 4 when I was 11… talk abt RED, white and blue. Then my friend who is the 3rd oldest got her’s. It took a while before everyone else got there’s but they all got around. We all have to change for gym and none of the other girls from the other grades care if we ask for pads or tampons, and the gym bathroom is closest to the high school building, so they have a basket with tampons and pads of different absorbencies for free so that’s pretty nice. And they also restock it daily. Sorry this is a never ending comment! 😂

I use this app (haven't gotten TOO much into it) but I like it, and it predicts my next period for a bit, and it's often close to accurate. It's called "Magic Girl" I just found it in the google play store =)
