Okay so basically I go to a church but I honestly don’t really believe their beliefs (nothing wrong with people who do though because people can believe what they want!!) And i like this guys there but idk if he believes the church. One of the rules is like you can’t have crushes until your ready to marry but like i said i have a crush on him. Idk how to ask if he believes it without being sus i guess? We started texting three days ago and the first day he was rly talkative but the second less talkative and now the third day like barely at all? I just need advice on how to like see if he’s maybe into me or thinks i’m cute idk. He’s my best friends brother, so before covid i saw him in person at like sleep overs but we didn’t talk a lot lol and one time his mom said it looked like we liked each other because we were talking a lot at church instead of to like everyone and i was like scared so i said “Oof yeah no, no offense but i’m not rly into you” and he said “yeah, i’m not really ready for stuff like that” but anyway HOW DO I FIGURE OUT IF HE LIKES ME WITHOUT BEING WEIRD? IF HE REALLY BELIEVES EVERYTHING THEN HED PROBABLY TELL HIS PARENTS AND THEY WOULD TELL THE CHURCH AND THEN MY MOM AND MOM WOULD GET MADDD

Are you really not allowed to have a crush? Having a crush just means that you like someone and you can't really stop that from happening. As long as you don't act on it, I don't see how anyone would mind.Maybe you could just talk about church in a way that does not mention crushes. There are so many other church related topics you could talk about and this way you could get a feel for if he is a believer or not. |

As a Christian myself I would only ever date someone with the same beliefs, since the Bible says to find someone who is equally yoked in the spirit. Maybe he can see that you don’t fully live like someone who believes in God? That could have something to do with it.

@Nanna_Ozzy well yea i can see that but it’s not christianity and the reason i don’t wanna be in it has legal issues and trauma involved so it’s not just like oh i don’t like god or anything like that bc the community im in is rly toxic but idk if he thinks that or not

so personally I would try and hang out at church and where ever else you can as much as possible just to try and get a reading on him if you can. After a bit more of being in each other's space maybe talk about things you like to do for fun find some common ground and then maybe see if he wants to do that with you. like if you like looking at art see if he wants to go to the art museum. (that was like the first example I could think of. sorry that was so random) but see if there's something you both like doing and start out with something a bit more platonic. if he rejects something like that thats just like common bonding ground I wouldn't go any further in your relationship past friends but if he does take it a steo further and maybe get dinner at a classic drive in or something super casual. Bottom line is start to hang out with him more at church and then maybe outside of church with some other friends there and then if he stays closer to you than anyone else keep going.
