this might sound dumb but exercising while having cramps can help a lot and eating a lot of chocolate could make cramps worse make sure that you have what you need and a friend to help you out if you bleed through also YOU DINT HAVE TO BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT PEOPLE HEARING YOU OPEN FEMININE PRODUCTS IN THE BATHROOM i promise you half of the people dont care and at worse might laugh but come on it’s normal so no need to be ashamed also be sure to be extra hygienly i guess

carry an extra pad or something with you at all times because you never know exactly when it'll arrive. some people have regular schedules and know pretty much when it'll come, but for some people (like me) it just comes randomly, sometimes in three weeks, sometimes in fivecramps can be really annoying, but some people dont get them. i personally don't get them while on my period but i usually get them a week earlier or a week after it. i just like to either watch something or do something else to distract myself from the pain. also don't wear anything white cus that can stain, but that doesn't matter too much because it washes off when i first got my period i was honestly freaking out but its honestly not too bad, it just depends on how severe the cramps are hope that helped in any way shape or form lol |

- personally, i like ibuprofen, but acetaminophen works just as well. it depends on your preference, really!- always carry a pad or a tampon on you. - heating pads are great when you're at home (also maybe combine it with a pressure point routine. i've found that helps a lot.) - when out or at school, carry a jacket with you if you're scared of leaks. it really helps with anxiety even if you don't have leaks. - allow yourself to take a day off of school if you need to! - use a period tracker app! they help planning outfits and stuff. |

To preface, I’m a trans guy who has experienced periods for almost 6 years, so I have some info to share for anyone who has periods. If you have cramps, Aleve is the best thing I’ve found that helps. It is both a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory. Also, getting larger pads is always better. You can go longer without changing it if you’re not able to use the bathroom frequently (at school, work, out in public). I’ve heard good things about menstrual cups as well. I’ve never tried one, but it might be a good choice for folks that are conscious about the waste from one use period items. I hope my insight helped a little!

There are lots of diff products that you can use so you can research and see which ones you'd be most comfortable with when starting out (I used pads for the first 8ish yrs then switched over to a diva cup)I find that placing a pillow under my legs helps me sleep better during that week Warm compresses / simple exercises / certain stretches / hot tea can help w minor cramps Ofc always carry backups and change your products v regularly, esp tampons if you choose to use those You may not have a legit cycle when you just start, so expect it to come earlier/later a few times til it regulates Cold water and baking soda helps to remove stains before they can set in fabric Honestly if you ever experience bad cramps etc when it starts don't be embarrassed to have to skip school or anything esp if you find it hard to focus / relieve the pain PMS is diff for everyone so after a few months you can determine your main symptoms, e.g mine is always acne so I take extra care w my skin during that time And there's no need to be nervous if your friends got theirs before you, everyone is different! No rush either, good luck 💕💕💕 |

Always carry a pad or tampon with you because you never know. It’s less awkward at school if you keep your feminine products in a pencil case or little bag to carry with you to the bathroom it really helps. Don’t worry about opening your pad in the stall, it’s a women’s bathroom every girl knows what it is. When you first start it can be irregular so don’t sweat it if you miss a month. Good luck for when you do start!

enjoy your time without one🤣🤣but make sure you keep supplies with you but if you forget, don’t be afraid to ask for a pad or tampon (I recommend pads for first periods but you do you) because pretty much everyone will have an extra one. your first couple months or even first year will be irregular as to when you get it and or how long your cycle lasts. I found staying active and drinking a lot of water helps your period pass faster. get an app like clue to keep track, it doesn’t always work but it gives you a good approximate guess when your period will come.
