Hi! I’m starting middle school on Friday and need advice. (Regarding schoolwork, homework, prioritizing, classes, lockers, friends, etc.) Thanks!

It's been a long time since I was in middle school, but my general advice would be: homework is more serious than elementary school so get it done like day of so you don't fall behind and don't keep food on your locker 😂

Make note of any homework / assignments even if you think you definitely won't forget about it, and get homework done asap. Be nice to your teachers (say good morning, afternoon), organize your books the night before you go to school and double check your locker before you leave in the evenings so you don't forget anything you'll need over the weekend etc. And always eat a good breakfast!!

Hey I started middle school last week and I also ask for some advice on a forum post. But I will give you a little. Make sure you memorize your schedule. Not only will you make new friends but you will lose some. I lost one of mine and it did bother me for a little bit but it I normal (from what I know). And I know we have crushes and all that but o would not begin dating until probably high school. And when you start getting homework make sure you start right as you get home. And once finish with one subject take a 5 min break. I have a forum post about it so you can look at it if you like Here is the link https://www.braceletbook.com/forum/7_community/23473_middle-school/ |

And it might be different at you school but in mine I don’t use lockers and I have to carry everything in my bag. But if you do forget the lock code you can probably ask your teachers and see if they can help 😊

I recommend having some sort of agenda or notebook where you can keep track of when assignments and homework are due and what you have to do for that specific day. If you have a locker always write the code down somewhere in case you forget it. It's okay to be nervous the first few days, you don't quite know the quickest route to get to each class, you don't know your teachers yet, it is a bit stressful. But don't stress too much, especially at night when you're trying to fall asleep, a good night's rest is important, especially 😤 if you're like me and have to race around the building because your classes are all over the place. I never really have good advice or advice that hasn't already been given but I hope this helps in some way. And if all else fails, go home and blast Teenagers by My Chemical Romance because teenagers are scary (or a song that does not have any swears in it but still gets the point of "teens are scary" across to the listener).- from your local anxious, music obsessed, bracelet making eighth grader |

Alright! As someone who had just finished my 3 long years of middle school I have plenty of advice for all those things. Excuse miss use of grammar and bad spelling in this comment. 1.Schoolwork- school isn’t that hard. Pay attention in math and MEMORIZE YOUR MAPS in social studies. ELA goes by fast make that your favorite class. Science? Pay attention in there but don’t be to worried if you slack off they normally give easy 100 with labs and completion. 2.Homework- there isn’t any unless you slack off. I got assigned homework like maybe 3 times in middle school mostly in 7th grade weirdly. You won’t get homework unless you make yourself get homework. Classes- have fun in classes. I already kinda covered that but make friends with your teachers and use free time wisely. Lockers-I LOVE LOCKERS don’t be worried about learning how to unlock it. It’s easy just remember right 2 times left 1 time. Friends- ah friends. I had many friends in 6th grade because my bestfriend was in my class so everyone saw my happiest self. In 7th grade I had no friends and in 8th grade (and now 9th) I learned how to make friends. Find people with a similar style. Like clothing wise. One of my new friends met me because she liked my sweater and shoes. So just go up to them and start a chat. Ask about clubs and sports? What classes they enjoy their teachers. 5(?) drama I’m adding this one. It might seem fun. Your gonna get in it and regret it. Don’t get in fights. I threw a kid into the lockers 3 times and got in 2 other fights. Not very fun only a good high when it’s happening really so don’t waste it. That’s all I got really. Don’t slack off and don’t go having XXX I know that’s a bad thing to say but it’s “cool” to have it at suck a young age but it really isn’t. And allow yourself to be yourself
