I start high school in less than a week! Do y'all have any good tips/advice for incoming freshmen?

Hey I just graduated this year! Honestly I think the best advice as cheesy as it is is to be yourself. That way you attract the sort of people you want to be friends with. And don’t put too much pressure on yourself academically, make strategic choices about the classes/ extracurriculars you take so you don't get overwhelmed. If your goal is to go to college, putting your all into a few activities you’re passionate about looks better than a bunch of things you don’t really care about anyway. I feel like there’s sometimes a lot of pressure (at least where I’m from) for high school to be the BEST four years of your life and it’s okay if they’re not. But try to make some fun memories to look back on and don’t let yourself be pressured into doing things you’re uncomfortable with. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great! 😊

My best advice is to join anything you think you’d be interested: clubs, sports, groups, anything! If you don’t end up actually enjoying what you joined you can always leave, but you can’t go back in time and join something sooner. Also try to get in your teacher’s good side and show them respect while they’re teaching. Teaching is a difficult profession, especially because of the new Covid regulations everyone has to abide by, you should try your best to not make your teachers’ jobs harder than they already are. I also recommend trying to form a group chat for every class you’re in, that way you can make study groups or help each other out or relay important information. Arguably the most important advice I have to give, please DO NOT clog the hallways or the stairwells, it’ll only cause traffic and make the upperclassmen whine about it. It’s very annoying when you’re trying to get to class and people in front of you randomly stop in the middle of the hallway to talk to their friends. If you do need to stop for something, kindly go off to the side near the wall. Also try not to turn corners too tightly, I’ve seen plenty of people hit each other head on because they neared a corner too close to the walls.

Heyy! Senior here! Just remember to prioritize your schoolwork since grades matter quite a bit in high school but try not to burn yourself out. Also, if you’re into this sorta thing go to dances and participate in spirit days. (:
