I’m making #87413, and I want to make something like a loop/bookmark hole so i can hang it on a wall, but there are an odd number of strings so I don’t know what to do. I don’t have any dowels, are there any other options?

You can use a pencil, chopstick, kebab stick, or you can attach your strings to another string (larks head knots onto another string instead of a dowel) and then use the dowel-string to hang it up.

bookmark hole is slightly more weird with an odd number of strings. what i’ve done is i either make it lopsided but i hated the way that looked, so instead i grouped 4 strings in one side of the hole and then 3 in the other. so 7 instead of 6 which is what handmade lenin showed in her tutorial. and then the last like knot where you pull out the base strings, i pulled out two and then when i made the row for the alpha over it, i just made two knots on the two strings, to separate them if that makes sense…. it makes the loop a little bit flat on the bottom but it’s barely noticeable, it is only if you point it out.

That pattern has an even number of base strings (28 base strings + 1 leading string), but you can also make a loop for patterns that have an odd number of base strings. You make the loop with one more base string than you need, and you make sure that one of the strings is really long. Make the loop so that the long string ends up on the left edge, then use it as your leading string.

You can also get dowels really easily from craft stores or Amazon.
