Have a notebook with you and in your bag have a separate compartment or bag just for a notebook and some pencils. Never take it out unless you have to study, that way in class you can just pull it out and take notes. For note taking I suggest have one main section of notes for anything that doesn’t go into any specific section, then a separate section for upcoming work and assignments to take note of (dates, deadlines, rules, etc.) then, as the teacher is speaking or writing something out, take notes on basically everything, even if you don’t think you’ll use it, it’s better to be prepared then not.

If the notes are messy, that’s fine, no one said school notes have to be pretty. I suggest having a bigger notebook where you can separate sections (or multiple smaller ones for each individual class so notes don’t get mixed up and you spend time just trying to find the right subject) and in that notebook(s) you can neatly write everything down so it’s more orderly

Also, don’t use a binder ever, they are bulky and annoying because of the shape. For all of my loose papers I use an accordion folder, and it’s stayed in shape for years. I believe another use on the site mentioned a link for one, but you can find one at most basic stores.

if you have to write quickly and you wanna have aesthetically pleasing notes, use highlighters instead of coloured pens. writing everything with black/navy blue without changing pens and highlighting to make your notes look better afterwards will be more time-efficient

What I do in class is I write down as much information as I can, regardless of how neat or sloppy it is. Then, when I get home, I highlight the most important/helpful pieces, and I re-write those in that sort of pinteresty aesthetic notes style. Re-writing the information will help it stick in your brain, and writing it out neatly and making it look pretty will make you feel less overwhelmed when it’s time to review and study. (:

Loose pages are super convenient for note taking - I usually use gridded / bujo paper because you can space out your notes however you like without getting points mixed up, especially if you need to write quickly about multiple topics without missing any infoIf the teacher gave any handouts or has information up on the board, but is talking about additional points, you can note down the important parts and later on if you rewrite your notes as other users suggested, you can write about those in more detail and link it to your given notes If it's a math/science subject I'd usually leave a page blank to include a full worked example, where I'd write the question and explain each step I do (like if you were trying to teach someone), so your notes will show theory + application which really helps with understanding and remembering the methods Hope this helps! 😊 |

COLORS COLORS COLORS COLORS!!!! Use lot of colors. It really depends on how your brain works. If ur a visional learner - use different colors do little drawings or sketches diagrams and try to „draw” everything in your mind. If you learn by reading/writing- Idk if it’ll work but maybe try to write a story about things you wanna learn. If you learn by hearing- listen to YouTube videos about things you wanna learn or record yourself reading things from your student’s book

I love taking notes so I'm here to help! Use a notebook instead of separate sheets in a binder. Try to get a separate notebook for each class if possible. Find a good pen, such as the pilot g2 gel pens. Charts or diagrams are very helpful! Label and highlight your notes. Don't worry about nice handwriting. Titles and headers are always helpful.
