I’ve been trying for a long time, but my parents still say no. I’m curious to see what other people say. Reasons I tried (but didn’t work) were that I wanted to showcase my creations (bracelets, baked goods

, and cooking), also that I wanted an easier way to get school updates since my middle school had an instagram (not sure about my high school though). I also wanted it so I could talk with long distance friends. I even tried to make the point that they could monitor what I post, or make my account private, but it didn’t work 😔

@nev_m_07 kind of the same for me. I don’t want socials super bad. But I think it would be cool to show my creative side a bit more, and also my traveling adventures.

They won’t even let me get vsco or snapchat, even though I’m not planning on post on either of them.

@nev_m_07 honestly, I don’t really know what Snapchat is, but everyone on my team has it, and it gets a bit frustrating when it’s all anyone talks about

@GenMalucci yeah I want to also post some of my nature photos and stuff since I’m into photography, but they won’t let me. I think they might let me get it since I’m older, but I doubt it

@nev_m_07 that’s cool! I love photography. I think it would be cool to have social media to show what I do in my spare time, but I don’t think my parents are on board.

@GenMalucci snapchat basically has a bunch of funny filters and stuff and you can send short videos (snaps) to people using these filters. You can also post things similar to instagram stories

i kinda want social media, just so i can see what's so great about it and why everybody likes it so much, but my parents said no so i gave up. i'll probably ask again when i'm older or just wait until i'm 18 and then i can just get it anyway

I've been trying but I was just recently told by my parents that I can't have anything like that until im16. My dad says my brain hasn't developed enough to be able to stop staring at a screen which I don't understand because who would want to just stare at a screen all day anyway no matter your age 🤨 I just want to be able to know things that are going on but they don't believe me 😢 so yeah.

@inaaya_a1 basically same here - they only gave me a lecture abt not befriending old randos / posting personal info when I joined fb/twitter in hs. And then with literally every other social I joined after I just kinda plainly mentioned that yea I have an acct but I'm not posting abt anything that would come back to haunt me etc
