I’ve been thinking about changing my name to Jay and I would like to get thoughts on if it is pretty gender neutral.

From what I read it’s primarily masculine, but some females are named Jay too.Like Riley is called gender neutral, but most Riley’s are female. I’d say it’s more neutral then most names out there, like I don’t think most people would read that and assume gender. Like if you hear Clara you think female and if you hear John you think male. |

I think its pretty gender neutral. Best part is you can get really creative with the spelling too.Jay Jey Jei J. etc. |

Trust me it is liberating! I changed mine also, I only use my real name for professional business or lesser-used social media. My true friends know it still, but all new people know me just as my name now! it is an amazing feeling and I hope you get to experience it soon as well! Do start slow and try a few out if you are not totally sure, but if you are definitely go for it!

Cool! I know that picking a name is pretty hard. I went through a lot of names before I picked mine. (I’m a trans guy btw) But my friends really helped me out a lot. I’ve also seen this thing where you write out sentences about yourself (in 3rd person) using the name and pronouns you want to try. It’s also a good way to help with dysphoria (if you have it) or to get gender euphoria!
