Hello!I have an Etsy shop where I sell vinyl decals, but I am planning on adding bracelets soon. So one of my tips would be, when you're starting out, it can feel like a lot of work, so I would recommend doing it in little bits. For me, once I got my shop and my first listing set up, I was able to get other listings up much quicker, so even if your first listing takes a long time to get set up, it will probably get quicker with each one. And, I would also recommend looking at other listings that are similar to what you will be selling. For me, this helped me understand pricing and gave me ideas for the general layout of how I wanted things. Also, Etsy has a help page where they walk you through each step, here is the link: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015672808-How-to-Open-an-Etsy-Shop?segment=selling For you first question, I would say yes! It is free to start a shop and there are a few fees, but they are all inexpensive(for example it's 20 cents to put up a listing) unless you want to pay for advertisement and some other extra things. So, for me it was like why not! It does take some time, but if like I said earlier you do it in small bits and pieces, I think it is manageable! For me, it was fun to have kinda like a goal to work towards and it was really exciting when I finally got it up! But I also wouldn't pressure yourself and if it seems stressful or anything, I definitely don't think you need to do it! For you second question, some of the basic requirements are you need to have a bank account to put revenue into. This was the hardest step for me, but my parents were able to help me with that. You also need some pictures and a description of what you are selling. You need to put down the price of what you want your creations to sell for. Sorry its been a while since I set my shop up, but those are the requirements I remember! For you last question, I would probably start with smaller patterns especially if you plan on your patterns being made to order. You could also look on Etsy and see what patterns people are currently selling and then try to do some patterns that are a little different then what's up there! Sorry that was a really long explanation but I hope it made sense and helped!! Let me know if you have any more questions, I am happy to help out!! Plz let me know the name of your shop if you end up doing it, I definitely want to check it out!! 😄 p.s. by the way I love your profile picture ❤️ |

I have a pretty successful friendship bracelet shop on Etsy that's been open for about 11 years. Some tips I have:Get a few bracelets/listings before you open shop. It looks better to have a few rather than just one or two. Try to post new listings frequently, because it keeps your Etsy shop looking active which will help it in search. PLEASE price your items to show your worth!!! Mine are the top of the price range so you don't have to go as high as I do (simple stripe with six colors is $15) but don't be selling them for $1. Have Good Photos. I cannot stress that enough. Use natural light, make sure your background is clean, show different angles, etc etc. Learn what SEO is and use it. When I first started out I named my bracelets weird things like Carrot and didn't even include friendship bracelet in the title lol. There are free Facebook groups you can join to get advice. My favorite is Etsy Roadmap by Lauren Keplinger. She also has a free SEO guide. That's what I could think of off the top of my head. Feel free to ask more questions! |
