I am by no means an expert on the matter, as I haven't even opened myself, but I can tell you what I'm doing right now:1) What would YOU want to buy? if even you wouldn't want to buy it, and you seriously doubt others would, then why bother? (unless it's a way to destress and just for fun, then by all means go for it! 😎) 2) WHO do you want to sell to? Think about who your buyers are going to be? Seniors have different 'needs' and 'wants' than Juniors, so pure businesswise chose the things that cater to your target audience 3) HAVE FUN like for real I cannot stress this enough! You have no idea how many patients I have with burnouts because their work-life/school-life are demanding and then they pressure themselves in their hobbies as well. put a limit on your creations if you need to, so it stays manageable and fun! 4) Don't be afraid to step out of the 'box' you see this one pattern that has no loves or no pictures but you love it? but now you doubt you should because it has no 'loves' or 'photos' on Braceletbook? GO FOR IT. like seriously! Maybe it flops, yes. That's always a risk! but maybe it doesn't! you only know when you try! Now more in dept about patterns: 1) try out some different color schemes! you see this one pattern but you not sure of the right color scheme? just try it! try out a few of the same patterns and settle for the ones that work in your eyes! ALSO: it's not because you hate it others hate it as well! for example I LOVE the color blue. so I like to try out every pattern in blue! that doesn't mean the buyers will also love blue but might prefer the red one instead! so play with colors and stick to a 3-4 different color schemes 2) make it "Fancy", yet don't forget the "classics"! it could be the easiest pattern to make, but sometimes the "difficult" look is enough for buyers! not everyone who buys knows about making bracelets so they don't think "I'm not gonna buy that because I can make it myself". as long as it looks good, you have a chance of selling! That being said, no need to go overboard either. putting a chevron online isn't bad or so! No crimes in chevrons in my opinion! they cute and fun! So switch it up a bit, some like fancy others like simple. Variety is key! 3) Like you said, Holiday! I cannot personally say whether or not holiday items sell better, but they are fun to make so why not? I'm planning to make some, and if they don't sell the more for me hahha. 😉 I hope this helps? or you want actual pattern numbers? 😊 |

@Karo-H wow, thank you soo much. like seriously this is awesome. and another question that i have (sorry to bother 😄 ) is, how do you price your items? like, what's really a price that customers think is good but it isn't underselling your work and value? i just can't figure it out... thank youu

@Kripton06 I haven't gotten to that part yet, I'm still in the "making the products" part as you could say haha.for pricing I can only say: 1) Market research! aka stalking other shops to see how much they sell for basically. That way you can see what they offer for what price and it gives you a guideline for your own products (you could make them higher/lower as you see fit. this is just an indication of pricing. If you feel like 10 euro/dollar/... won't cut it, then up that! If you feel like it is a reasonable price you can decide to keep it like that). 2) See how much making the products cost you seriously, even though you might 10000% love making them getting losses isn't the goal. If you want to earn 10% on each bracelet for example, then order your prices to that goal. this is what I can think of at the moment. I am not there yet myself so I cannot give you exact patterns+prices for example. Hope this helps |

But I'm sure people who have actually opened their stores are better at giving advice than I am at the moment haha. They have the Experience as well. I'm just trying whatever I can 😉

Hello you can find my Etsy shop at quietmischief.com. I've been open for a looooong time and I'm happy to answer questions! As for pricing, my formula is materials + labor (I pay myself $20/hour) + Etsy fees + overhead costs (about 50 cents per bracelet, higher for higher bracelets) + some profit. For me that's my wholesale price and I double it for retail, but not everyone wants to do that. I am literally the top prices on Etsy for friendship bracelets lol. |
