I’m homeschooled and in my senior year. My parents aren’t too strict with my school. It’s not that hard for me to do, so I procrastinate a lot. I go weeks hardly doing any school. I’ve had to have huge catch ups and I still haven’t learned to be diligent in school. Any advice to keep my school in check?

Keep track of your studying in a journal or a to do list

2. Try downloading study apps (study bunny helps me a lot!!) 3. Try different study techniques(pomodoro method works well if you wan to study for short periods of time) 4. Rewrite your notes aesthetically while listening to music, this has helped me soo muchhh! Listening to music makes the experience better and rewriting your notes helps you register it in your head! Also you’ll have better notes when preparing for your finals 😉

Have a designated space for school, such as a desk or a specific seat at the kitchen table. If you want to get more things done in a day, choose a smaller assignment and make it your goal to finish that. The small assignments usually get me into the right headspace for completing things that take longer or are harder. Listen to whatever helps you focus (I listen to ocean waves or wind blowing asmr) and then set your phone aside while you work and try not to check social media. If you already have a designated space for doing your work, sometimes a change of scenery can help in jump-starting the work process. Ask your parent to take you to a café or a public park where you can sit and work uninterrupted.

To-Do lists really help me, I have a journal dedicated to school assignment to-do lists. Keeping a planner can also really help you; seeing the due dates on a calendar and being able to visualize how much time I have left to do them puts them into perspective, and helps me start things sooner and pace myself to better fit my schedule. Make sure if you want to dedicate a day to working that you take short breaks for snacks and drinking water, as well as going to the bathroom or just stretching your legs. I also add household chores or just daily things that I need to do to my to-do list (ie laundry or walking my dog), since checking things off makes me feel productive, and the variation in types of work keeps me engaged.

Sometimes switching up my schedule helps me. If you don't normally wake up early, try setting your alarm for 6 or 7 and then use the time in the morning to complete an assignment. It will help you feel accomplished and productive, and the momentum may carry over into working on other assignments. Sleeping in late and going to bed late at night makes me feel lazy, while waking up early and going to bed early makes me feel more energetic and optimistic about the day, even though I'm technically awake for the same number of hours. Parents also seem to like that schedule more for some reason.

Hope this helps, good luck in your studies! 🙂

The biggest thing is to organize all of your tasks so you can gauge how much work you actually have. I recommend making a chart with all seven days of the week going across the top, and then all of your classes going down the left side. You should do it in a google doc since it’s easier to edit. From here, add in all of your assignments under their respective classes and due dates. What I do after that is put a star next to any assignments that I know are major projects, so that I know what I need to prioritize. I would try to spend the most time on the starred assignments, that way you can just knock them out. But, you do want to spend some time on the smaller ones as well. So maybe try to complete 2-3 small assignments per day, as well as maybe working on bigger projects for at least an hour. This is the system I used during distance learning, and it helped so much. Just make a new chart every week, and whatever you don’t get done in one week, just move it over to the next and maybe highlight it so you know that it’s late or that you need to prioritize it. I hope this helps! : D
