Hi! I’m a definite book nerd! I read every night before bed and it helps me sleep better! As for getting out of a book slump, just find a new series that fits your interests!! For me, I usually look for fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian books, as those are the genres I like. One series that I really like that I just started is The Unwanteds! It falls under the fantasy category, but also dystopian and it’s really really good!! I’ve only read the first two books, but so far it’s an amazing series! The books just pull you in, and whenever I read them I just don’t want to stop. In terms of reading faster, sometimes

In terms of reading faster, sometimes I whisper or mouth the words and that tends to help me pick up the pace. Another thing that helps me, especially with boring school books is listening to an audiobook while I read, as they help me stay focused on what I’m reading and read faster.

Hi! I don't like to think of slower tempo as a slump, perhaps it's just your brain telling you "hey i need a break" or "nah mate i don't feel like it" and its absolutely fine! We don't have to perform to our best all the time, beat records, achieve all A's etc. So if it is taking you a bit slower, maybe try to take a break completely, or change a genre? If it comes to speed, again, don't push yourself. If you read fast, you'll miss the details, you'll forget the plot quicker cause you didn't have sufficient amount of time to engrave it to your memory. Annotating I feel depends on you personally. When I read books, I like to analysed how the character could have felt, or if this wording is really unusual and shows additional depth into the situation etc. Sometimes I simply annotate a definition of a word I haven't seen, or think I haven't seen it 😛 Hope that helps a bit xx |

Big book nerd here, personally I don't even want to read fast because this means that a good book will end even sooner (waaaay too soon!!!). I'd rather stretch it out to stay in the story a little longer. If I don't feel like reading, it has maybe to do with a bad choice of book. There was a time when I thought that I have to finish every book that I started, but meanwhile I just put them away if it's a no-go. Reading different genres helps as well. This keeps things interesting. I'm not interested in reading at all when I'm kind of addicted to a new computergame. Therefore, if you've got problems to read, you could question yourself about what else you do. (Too much) screen time maybe? A new, more interesting hobby? Bad eyes that give you a headache? There are a lot of reasons that could keep you away from books.

I am such a book nerd I love to read! Guess thats pretty obvious 😂 but getting out of a book slump, I suggest finding a new series that interests you or even re-reading a series you have not read in a while helps me. About a year ago I had a REALLY bad slump to the point I did not read at all. I ended up reading the hunger games which is an AMAZING series if you have not read it already. Other fantastic series are keeper of the lost cities, land of stories, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and divergent! Tip when reading faster it helps to have a story you are interested in and have a space with no distractions. I personally find that these help me but I am also not a super fast reader I just read a lot so I tend to get through books pretty fast.

I'm such a book nerd!! With getting out of a book slump I try to pick a book that is the best fit for what i like and a book that I really want to read. I think a great trilogy to get out of a slump if you like dystopian/sci-fi/fantasy is the chaos walking trilogy I read it and it's my favorite and it's what got me out of a book slump. On reading faster I don't really have any tips it's just natural to me my friends always ask how I can sit and read a 500 page book without stopping and the truth is I don't know... I really wish I could help mor on that though. But again for the slump the chaos walking trilogy is great

You called me, I came running! My main piece of advice is to find a book you're really interested in. What makes me read faster is going to sleep at night and unable to wait to see what happens next in said book. It makes you finish faster (books more than 600 pages can be finished in less than a week!) but also crave for more. When you read a book you're not as into, you just don't feel like reading it and have to force yourself. So find a book that you REALLY want to read. I recommend fantasies and historical fiction (look in my bio for a list of books I loved). The Professional Bookworm, signing out! |

Annotations, I forgot about that one!Searching word definitions is almost the only thing I do, I find appreciation of the novel and reflection better than underlining parts of a whole paragraph. I find that when I finish a book, I end up thinking a lot about it, going into the deeper parts of the story I hadn't entered before. Only when I finish the book do I enter the more whimsical meanings of the story, and only then do I write anything down about the plotline, characters, etc. Hope this helps! Id go for a book that you have been wanting to read for a while. And dont dwell on what to read so much...i find that a spontaneous decision for a book to read often makes it more interesting. I have a few recommendations:Seraphina Graceling The wrath and the dawn We hunt the flame The library of the dead Hope this helps!!! |
