it took forever to get my mom to let me. i’m 16 and i just got my first one this year. maybe ask her for a high waisted one with a top that isn’t too “showy” that’s what i did.

I agree with everyone above, definitely start with one that isn’t too revealing, like high wasted bottoms and not super small tops. if you show her you’re not wanting to be revealing or immodest, it may help. otherwise you might have to settle for a less revealing option, like a tankini or similar two-piece. my argument was that it’s miserable to use the bathroom when I have to take off a wet one-piece suit, which is so difficult. overall, just be respectful towards your mom and don’t yell or be angry. calmly let her know your perspective and reasons. good luck!

I am personally very insecure about showing my body. But I would just share your perspective about it, I personally like the suits that are super high waisted, and don't show anything, but are still a lot easier to go to the bathroom and use in general.

my parents loosened up a little bit, and now I can wear tankinis that are shorter, basically bikinis, but not quite. More of a straight cut crop top but shorter than a tankini. But still, progress!I told her that I like how that *specific* bikini swimsuit looked, and that it shouldn't matter that it was a couple inches shorter. I liked how it looked and felt pretty and confident in it! It isn't unusual to wear bikinis, and it doesn't feel immodest because that is usual swimwear attire, and boys don't even wear shirts! Tell her you don't want to wear the bikinis for the wrong reason. Your not trying to be flirty or anything, you just feel pretty in it and like how that swimsuit looks! |

I’ve always worn tankinis, which are like a crop top and bikini bottom, but my mom let me get a bikini one time. The bottom wasn’t high waisted or anything, but the top part had ruffles on the bottom, so it only showed about 4 or 5 inches of my stomach. That was in like 5th grade though, and like I said it wasn’t too revealing or anything. At first she didn’t want to get it, but I told her that I just wanted to feel more mature and comfortable, and she said okay. I’m going into highschool now, and my last bathing suit was a one piece, but I think she would be okay with a bikini. I would honestly just try to find a top that is like straight across instead of a v neck, because your mom would probably be more okay with that.
