I am a swimmer, and it is by far my favorite sport EVER!! but as any female swimmer knows (and male I guess but some of these don't apply to the guys) there are some really weird side effects of soaking in chlorine for 2 hours *cough* fried hair *cough* 😂 so name some problems that you've experienced as a swimmer! here are some of mine:big shoulders disgusting hair huge hands itty bitty committee lol and chronic nosebleeds (yes ik this happens to other people but trust me, chlorine is a nose's worst enemy 🤪) |

I almost forgot the thing I hate most: when water gets in your ears and you have to jump around to get it out. I absolutely hate it.

Disgusting hair, like when it dries it’s absolutely fried. And you can’t do much about it. Having huge hands and shoulders. It makes wearing anything that is tighter impossible because I look like a really muscular dude. When I forget to take a breath within the last five strokes before my flip turn and water gets up my nose and i have to come up faster. It’s not a huge deal, but I went through a growth spurt a while back, when I was like ten, and I had to get new suits, and I really liked the ones I had before. It was very disappointing

Not to mention when caps split. And when new suits are needed because they wear out so fast

I am not on a swim team or anything but when I swim at the pool for fun in the summer the chlorine bleaches my hair so I have to use special shampoo and conditioner

I'm a competitive synchronized swimmer and I did 4 years of diving before that, and I still do diving. I basically grew up at the pool and live in it haha. So theres no hope for my hair anymore. Its dried and smells like chlorine no matter how many times you wash it. Also about the water in the nose, i wear a noseplug, but I cant tell you how many times I have lost my nose plug in the pool and didnt have a spare one, so the whole team is looking for it lol. Then you have to continue practice without one, and your nose burnssssss you have to keep blowing out of it all the time. Another thing, idk if this applies for swimmers, but like the next day your lungs start to burn or your abs hurt because of how long you held your breath. |

@PotatoPeel I grew up in the pool. I’m a competitive swimmer and I have been one since the age of five-six. My lungs only started to burn after about a year of swim. I’m not sure what it’s from but it might be from breathing in the chlorine. We have a pool and my dad tests it often and shocks it with chlorine so it stays clean. I often start coughing and my lungs burn when he shocks the pool with chlorine. So maybe it’s breathing it in, and then holding our breath for such a long time

I have not done swimming as a sport yet (I am going to start over the summer) but at camp we would go in the pool 2 times a day for like 30-45 minutes. And I would get an ear infection every single summer. Then I couldn't swim for like 2 weeks
