@audreyb37 all I can say is keep working! Find motivation to put a net up and work by yourself every so often. In my experience the best thing for pitchers is to not give up! And another important thing, don’t compare your pitching time with others! Everyone grows at a different pace. You may through 45 or 50 or whatever your speed is now, but as you practice and get better it will tick up. Same thing with accuracy. Practice is key. And never get down on yourself because a coach doesn’t put you in, this may just mean a different pitcher is having a good day with pitching and the coach want to let them have a turn. Think of it not as a downgrade but motivation to keep going persevere and eventually you will be pitching in the harder games!

And @akduncan yes! Of course it is! Besides the pitcher and the catcher you have the ball in your hands the most! Probably mostly once every inning you will have control of what happens, if you make the catch in time you lets your team have a chance of hitting in the next half!

I have played traveling softball since I was 8(now im 12). I recently made a high school team and now i'm on a traveling team and a high school team. I pitch and play short-stop for my traveling team and for my high school team I pitch and play outfield. I have a game, practice, or both every single day in the month of may!

Also, my tips for pitching are that you should never give up. I started learning how to pitch when I was 8 and when I was 10 something just clicked and I went from being the worst pitcher on my team to the best. I think that you should really focus on speed first because to be accurate you just need to make small adjustments. So, depending on your age I would recommend getting your speed up to about 40 mph and then work on change-ups and being accurate.

Tuesday practice, Wednesday pitching lesson, Thursday practice and fridays are for driving to tournaments 😂 and the weekends I have tournaments.

My tournaments start next weekend but for now I have practice for my traveling team Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. For high school I have 3-4 games per week and if we don't have a game we have a practice. Only during the school week tho.
