Ok. Psych wards. I heard a myth (something I heard, and I don’t know too much about this so don’t come for me) people are *occasionally* strapped down so they can’t harm themselves or anyone else.

@GenMalucci so basically if you are lashing out trying to hurt yourself or others the staff might put you in a hold just to keep everyone safe but no one straps you down. at least in the place i went to. they might give you a shot of a sedative if you can’t calm down. it’s called “booty juice” in the mental health community lol. they had one padded room and basically you could go in there if you wanted to and just hit stuff or you might be put in there to calm down but it’s not isolation. there are lots of different ways to keep patients safe. there are safety blankets which are stiff blankets that you can’t try to hang yourself with, you only get that if you are super high risk though. also the same thing for clothes, there are stuff clothes as well. only for high risk people again. you usually never see any of these used unless someone tries to commit suicide while in the hospital. it’s not very common because everything is safety proofed already
