i have to get mine out in april and i’m freaking out. the needle freaks me out and i’m scared of the pain afterwards. also i’m scared i’m gonna curse in front of my mom after cause of the anesthesia bc i’m not allowed to curse but i do it at school and stuff. is it really as bad as i’m thinking it’ll be?!?

My wisdom teeth started coming up last January and then I continually had really painful infections with antibiotics for like three months before they finally agreed to take them out. I was supposed to get them out in April and it ended up being cancelled because of COVID so in the middle of lockdown I had to get the infected one pulled out while I was conscious which wasn’t the best experience. I finally got them out in June and it wasn’t that bad. I didn’t get loopy off the anesthetic which was great because I was terrified I would accidentally come out to my mom. I was just really tired. The first few days after the procedure were pretty painful but I had a lot of pain meds so it was fine. It’s not as bad as you think in your head. You’ll be fine

you should be put under anesthesia because of your age, so you don't have to worry about needles. the worst you'll get is an I.V. in your arm (which for me they put in right away, the moment the needle went in my arm i was out). you're not gonna curse, the majority of those videos where they're goofy n stuff is a. famous people doing it on purpose or b. they don't have a high tolerance to it, but you'll be just fine. They dont bring your mom back until you're awake and by then you'll know whats happening, so you really don't have to worry about that

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled and the ones that sit right behind your upper canines and I had no difficulty, i was aware of what was happening the whole time and i didn't feel funny. I left like 10 minutes after waking up??? and I wasn't in there for long lmao the whole thing took no more than 45 minutes. they know what they're doing, trust me.

I got mine out in 2018 and it really wasn’t that bad. I was nervous what it would feel like going under but the only thing that happened was my vision got blurry and I closed my eyes. I didn’t get laughing gas so I wasn’t crazy/loopy afterwards. The doctors office also gave me a free pint of ice cream! I remember when I woke up, tears were streaming down my face cause I was so happy it went so well.

The hard part is the after care. It’s kinda gross eating cause your gums are soft and bloody.

I only got local anesthesia so if you get to choose if you get a full or just a local anesthesia and you are scared that the full anesthesia will make you say things when waking up that you might not want to say, you could choose local anesthesia. You are awake and only your mouth is numb. You can listen to music to not hear too much of it but it can also be an interesting experience to know what's going on.

I was definitely in lots of pain afterwards but you get pain medication that you can take that will make it better. I got to watch lots of tv and just lay around all day which was nice even though I was in pain. My mum mashed all my food for me which was definitely an interesting experience because while it tastes the same the consistency is completely different.

This was probably not super helpful 😅

@halokiwi thank you! my doctors said that i have to get full anesthesia because of how bad my wisdom teeth are. i also have 6 wisdom teeth so that means it will be a lot more invasive and they might break my jawbone. i’m terrified of saying things to my mom like i’m scared of swearing and coming out to her. let’s hope it goes okay lol

Oh no, 6 wisdom teeth really does sound like a lot 😯 I only had three
I hope everything goes alright and I wish you good luck 🤞
Even if you end up saying something you didn't want to say you can just blame it on the anesthesia later 😉 I'm sure your mum will understand

From my experience it was not bad at all. The anesthesia was twilight so I was not completely out. My mouth was sore for a while, but everything went smoothly and I recovered within a week or two.

Funny side note: I had 5 wisdom teeth and my twin sister only had 3. My extra tooth was where she was missing hers. 😄

Yes I got my wisdom teeth removed almost a year ago, and honestly it didn’t hurt at all the only part that hurt was when they numbed me 5 times. That hurt a lot, but it was very fast and I was 15 at the time when they removed them I am 16 now.
