hi people! i'm sure there are many bi, tri, and multilingual people on this site and my question is how?? i'm doing my best with spanish right now and i'm still in school so i have a long time but i'm struggling with keeping up with vocabulary. I am very linguistically oriented and have a really good memory so i'm honestly surprised that i'm having so much trouble but i can't get anything to stick. Yo necesito ayuda por favor!

Maybe you could find a penpal! It helps me a lot with french to have someone who natively speaks french to talk with so I can learn from them. (She speaks english too)

I am learning Dutch and continuing Latin, although I finished my courses for English, Italian and French, so I’m a sense I am multilingual. However Dutch is the best of them all.

so i learned english bc i had to. for multiple reasons
1. you need it. everywhere. no one speaks dutch in other countries
2. i chose a bilingual stream at my school bc i wanted to
3. netflix, social media, youtube, you just need to know english for it.

My advice is to listen to a lot of songs in Spanish, that's what helped me with English most. It's a fun method and it works pretty well

The thing that really helped me improve my English (my first language is French) is watching TV shows. It really helped me to learn new vocabulary and get used to understanding not only the written words but how it's pronounced (using subtitles can be easier at first).
Also, I started learning Spanish a couple years ago and found a great song that is very easy to understand and has simple vocabulary : El mismo sol by Alvaro Soler. Maybe Alvaro Soler also has other songs that you'd like too 🙂

@swim_girl nooo I love Shakira 🥺😂❤️ joking, it's ok if you don't like her, everyone has their own opinion. She is one of the few singers singing in Spanish I listen to, but there is also ROSALÍA (all caps), and Alvaro Soler as @Odanak1811 said. You should also listen to the Spanish version of various Disney songs, they are great and they are easier to understand since they are made for children 😍 amo Disney

English is my first language but I’ve been learning and going to school fully through Irish since I’ve been five, so I’ve been learning it for ten years. I’m currently learning French and Spanish in school and I really want to learn Russian but I can’t find any lessons near me. If you like to read, reading a book you’ve already read in English and then reading it in that language is really helpful.

Hi everyone! My first language is English and I’m learning Chinese at school! I love learning new languages and I’m really good at it but sometimes school lessons go too slow for me, so I like learning extra Chinese out of school! I use Duolingo to study Chinese and Spanish. One tip for learning a language is listening to people speak it! I do this by watching YouTube videos in Chinese with English subtitles!

I used Duolingo and it taught me a lot of English, I recommend you use it (but with Spanish obviously) (sometimes if I speak a little strange it is because of the google translator lol)
