Hey, I am a competitive swimmer and I have heard from tons of people that swimming is an easy sport. Here are my poll questions: Do you think it is an easy sport? If so, why? If not, why? Thank you for participating! |

@crafter83 same 😔 I have a huge fear of not being able to breathe after going on a water slide or jumping off a diving board or just jumping in the water

No, I don’t think it is, because it requires a long of body strength and you have to learn to breathe a certain way (I think)

@Elise64 My issue is I suck at coordinating arm and leg movements.

@HannahB04 Yes, for some people you have to change your breathing, personally, I grew up either at the beach or in a pool whenever I could be, so I didn’t have a huge problem with breathing differently, it’s something you learn as you continue to swim

Ah, okay yeah I thought maybe, because whenever I swim I could never hold my breather very long.

@HannahB04 Sometimes it’s not holding your breath for a long time, the flips and the dives are the only thing that take slightly more extended periods of holding your breath, but the faster you go, the less of a problem it is

In my opinion it's a hard sport, because swimming fast is not easy (sorry for my boring answer)

I don’t think it’s an easy sport. I did 2 semesters of aquatics and I have a friend that did swim, and you have to engage a lot of your body to swim competitively and you need a good amount of breath control. I was never great at swimming

Its a hard sport, because if you're someone like me who has played soccer all her life and does track with little to none arm strength i can tell you now that i wouldnt make it far in that sport

I do not think it is an easy sport because it needs a lot of body strength and you need to be good at holding your breath.

People probably say it's easy because they're like "I can swim too, it's not that hard" but when you are not just swimming in your pool for fun, swimming can be hard. I do Crossfit and I have a good cardio but I went swimming a couple of times before Covid and it was hard because I'm not used to this way of training, and I spend a lot of time during the summer in pools but swimming for fun is not at all the same as swimming for training. Also, a lot of people mention to me when I'm doing crossfit or gymnastic how easy it seems when I do it, so maybe you're so good that it makes swimming look super easy 😉 |

Hello! I feel your pain. I'm a swimmer too. My friends think it is just jumping around in the water, but I think it is one of the hardest sports you could compete in.

I say yes swimming is a hard sport. because I do not have stamina and I am scared of not having any air to breathe.

@Odanak1811 I agree, I definitely have room for improvement on my race times, but I have been told it looks easy when I do certain strokes.
