Hey! Lately I've been wanting to learn german or ASL. Does anyone know any good resources for learning new languages?

I’ve been learning Japanese with LearnJapanesePod101, but it’s a whole family of websites and I’d say it’s a pretty good resource for a beginner at least. I found the branch for German https://www.germanpod101.com/index.php and you have to create an account. It’s free, but if you want more features, then you have to pay a monthly fee. They also have a YouTube channel, so you can just search LearnGermanPod101 on YouTube. I also use Duolingo as well, but you kind of just need to use a combination of resources to get good at language. I don’t know anything about learning sign language though

@oceanknot Oh thank you os much! I'll definitely check that resource out. Yea I was guessing that it may take a few resources to learn a language completely. Thank you again (:

@Xxpuffish Yea I've tried duolingo and felt like I could only learn the basics. I've actually never heard of rosetta stone until now. I just checked it out and it looks pretty cool! Thank you!

I reccomend Lindsey Botes’ video on language learning resources. I haven’t watched it in a while, but I know she mentions a service called iTalki, where you work with an actual tutor (I haven’t used it so I can’t comment on it). There’s a site I’ve been meaning to check out for ASL called aslrochelle (dot) com [weird formatting because idk if we addresses are allowed on posts] so maybe you could check that out!I’ve used Duolingo and been able to benefit from it, but I was using it while learning French in school. I don’t know if it would be as useful for someone learning a language totally on their own. But you can get the majority of their services for free (premium means you don’t lose hearts for making mistakes and have to wait to renew them, I think you can also do special progress quizzes. There’s no lessons locked behind a paywall) |

I have learned languages through school so I have taken two Spanish classes and I am currently learning ASL! For Spanish we used Duolingo A LOT. Honestly for ASL I think the best way to learn it is through a teacher probably in person but since that is kinda hard right now I have found a lot of youtube videos for learning ASL or if you want you can google search certain words or categories in ASL and there are a lot of great websites! Hope this helps!
