It depends on how much you exercise( it could be muscle). I personally wouldn’t worry about it unless you doctor says something about it.Everybody’s body is different and so the “average” isn’t really a fair comparison |

Yeah I’m 14, 5 foot 7 and 154 pounds, but I’m healthy and do sport heaps so it really doesn’t matter what u weigh, just as long as your healthy and confident 🙂

I think you should weigh what feels right for you! Society has lots of weight standards, but you should just do what feels right for you.

The best way to know if your weigh is healthy is by calculating your BMI. There’s a website for it and I’m pretty sure it also states at what weigh you become underweight or overweight as well.

@RockMusic 2006_Mandy said to calculate your body mass index (BMI) which can be done with a simple google search. if that’s something you would want to do, i suggest it because it brought me a little reassurance <3

@2006_Mandy Thanks! I might not have asked the question but I was curious and found out that I am underweight. I have also been getting bad headaches lately and think there is a connection between the two. I will talk to my mom or doctor.

I have the same problem, except that apparently I am underweight. I'm 5'2" and 71 pounds. Is that normal? 🤔

Hello everyone! I just wanted to pop in here and remind you all that the internet is often not the best source for health advice, particularly when it comes to weight culture, so I would recommend having these kinds of discussions with adults you trust in your family and with doctors/physicians, rather than forums on BraceletBook. I know everyone on here means well, but remember that everyone's bodies are different, and being healthy oftentimes has little to do with one's weight, height, and appearance 😊

Okay, I feel like I should step in here since I've been studying nutrition and dietary science for a long time.1. Genetics are a key factor. Your size and how your weight deposits is blamed on your parents. You cannot mess with your genes. 2. Fat and muscle are two different things. Muscle weighs more but fat accumulates quickly. 3. Metabolism (how quickly chemical reactions occur in your body) is also a factor. That also decides how quickly you get hungry. 4. I cannot say this enough to my friends but online BMI calculators are trash! BMI is to calculate muscle and body mass to the ratio of fat. There's no proper way to calculate it without going to a doctor. If you want to lose or gain weight (your body, your choice) I suggest you privately message me so I can give you advise on how to lose or gain weight correctly and stay healthy. |

Also, talk to your parents about it before talking to people on BB 😜 a group of people online aren't the best unless you're asking for science help 👍

Since you're still 14, don't try to hard to lose/gain weight! If your doctor hasn't brought it up, you're fine ❤️Weight standards for kids are often messed up, because it's based on the average height. I've always been taller than the average height for my age, so I'm heavier than the average weight. Your weight will also depend on what you do. I've been doing sports since I'm 8, so I have more muscles than some people, and since muscle weigh more than fat, I'm going to be heavier than some people who look the same as me. Everyone is different ❤️ |

I would say it’s honestly probably not a problem. I thought I weighed a lot more than I did and I went to the doctor and she said I was a good weight for my height. I’m in the 90th percentile for height and like the 75th percentile for weight or something like that so it was reassuring to hear that. Like many others on here, the best way to figure put if you’re at a good weight is to consult your doctor. Also, you have to remember that everyone is different and things like height, muscle, and genetics can play into your weight. I’m tall and semi-muscular so even though someone who’s also my age might be the same height as me, they could weigh much less or much more than me. Another thing to remember is that you’re still growing so your weight will change (literally quoting my doctor here lol). Just don’t worry about it too much and don’t worry about what the average is. Everyone’s average is different and looking at unrealistic weight averages will only make you worried and you might start to feel bad about your weight. Hope this helps
