AHHH! I had neck surgery. I had a lymph node infection, and they had to slit it it open and drain it. I know... it's really gross. but thought you might wanna have that info so you know i've had experience. lol

I have to say, i was pretty scared and i think that's pretty normal. The doctors will always 150% make sure you are safe before putting you under anesthesia and will walk you through everything that they are going to do. I'm sure it's pretty stressful right now. but my experience was pretty great and chill.

If you do get surgery on you neck, just make sure that once the stitches or whatever is out you massage the scar tissue. I don't have a visible scar, and it really isnt a scar. it's just slightly raised skin, but massage the scar tissue so it can even out and won't hinder your movements.

I hope that helps and didn't make you more stressed. PM me if you have questions.

@kmmoral Thank you so much I’m really frightened if I don’t manage to get the tissue healed but it’s nice knowing it wouldn’t be to bad if it has to happen

I had surgery on my neck to remove an "unidentified mass" that I had been dealing with for years. It continued to grow little by little and made turning my neck really hard (was about an inch wide)

I've always been scared of surgery and needles, I've got some serious anxiety and have had some bad experience with doctors, but when i went there for everything it was amazing!!!

They treat you very well and make sure you're as comfortable as possible. especially if you're in the kids unit they'll treat you with extra care, kids are always scared about this kind of stuff so the majority of nurses and doctors are very nice 🙂

With my surgery, the couldnt find the mass when they cut open my neck, which was really weird? they looked around and tilted my head (while i was under) and saw that it popped out when i moved it one way or the other, but when they went in to remove it they couldn't find it. We originally called it a swollen lymph node until I actually went there for my surgery and met some of the people my surgeon was going to work with and they called it an unidentified mass. They took samples and gave me a steroid shot while i was under! I have my scar on my neck, but they made sure it wasn't noticeable. I didn't even have to get stitches, they just glued me shut!

When you get there they're gonna walk you through everything. You're not only going to meet your surgeon, but almost the entire staff that's gonna be in the operating room. My surgeon, another surgeon, and her assistant came in a few times to make sure everything they had in the documents were right, and then I had two nurses roll me to my room and got to see one other one before i went under. That was everyone that was dealing with me!!! It may seem scary leading up to it, my mom didn't even tell me until a week before my surgery because i was so scared, but it was amazing the kind of care i got. In June it'll be my one year anniversary since I've had my surgery 🙂

surgery seems scary, bit it's really not. This is just a little bit of what I had to go through, if you have any more questions about after care or how setting up my surgery appointment went lemme know!! I'll happily answer any questions you might have
