I feel like the age of 13 is a good age to get a phone but you gotta prove to your parents that you are responsible and deserve a phone. A phone is a privilege not a necessity which is why it's harder to prove to parents

i don’t think your parents will agree to get you one just cause everyone else has one and personally that’s not a good reason anyway so maybe think of other reasons?.. i agree with -Nobody- also

Tell them that it would be much safer for you to have a phone, like if you were lost, you could call your parents.

Well, like Mary_E said, you can be like “look, all my friends have one, even some that are smaller than me, so why can’t i have one?” Lol, that sounded like a kid, but something like that, or, maybe (I’m not sure if it will work) ask one for your birthday or for Christmas.

I got my first phone (it wasn't a smartphone) when I was 14 (I think) shortly before I went on a student exchange because it was important to my parents that I stay save and am able to reach out to people. You can tell your parents that you want a phone for safety reasons. My first smartphone I got at 17. I didn't have a laptop at this point (we only had a family laptop that everyone was using) and it was difficult to stay in touch with friends or get all the information I needed from school (some teachers were sharing information online and I sometimes didn't notice because I didn't log into the family laptop for days). I think in the current time it is especially reasonable to say that you want a phone to stay in touch with your friends more easily if due to covid you can't see each other that much. Phones can also be used to take photos. I know many braceletbook users who only have tablets are struggling to take nice photos of their bracelets. This is only a minor reason to get a phone but in combination with the other reasons it might work. |

You could write a letter stating why the phone would be beneficial to you. Include how you have been responsible in the past and how you plan on using the phone. Make sure to provide a strong argument as to why the phone would help them get in contact with you and help keep you safe if you are kidnapped (Im not sure on that last one just make sure they see you are responsible and the phone would be a tool.)

Well then your parents probably won’t let you get a phone! But what you should do is start cleaning your room every day! And once you have done that for a few days suggest that you want a phone don’t push it tho! Then start doing extra chores around the house (take out trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, wash dishes) so they can see that you are responsible! Also if you can offer to pay for the phone (or part of it) and be grateful even if you get an old phone it’s better then nothing

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but an idea would be to ask for an iPod which can be used where there is WiFi. Also say your having trouble staying connected!

I got a phone when I started to go to a high school (7th grade for me as my high school is 7th-12th). I’m involved in a lot of extracurriculars so the main reason my parents got me one was for communication. I’d say join a lot if programs so you need to contact your parents for a ride home, but covid makes that a little hard right now- you could try to do more work around the house and show your parents how responsible and helpful you are?
