So earlier today I was running from my cousin because he was following me and my sister when were supposed to be quarantined and I had a hard time breathing. When we came inside my chest hurt so bad, I was coughing, and it hurt so bad to breath so I was crying. My dad said I might have asthma and his gf said it's probably an anxiety attack. I kept couching and breathing so hard so she told me to lay down. I drank 2 whole water bottles during that time and when I came out of my room I was talking to my sister. Then his gf came out and I said I was gonna text my cousin then she said, " oh are you sure? Are you better to do that." I told her my chest still hurt but I was okay and she just rolled her eyes at me.... I then started crying again but my chest didn't hurt this time. Sorry I got off topic. Is it an anxiety attack or asthema because my chest always hurts when I run but it didn't hurt as bad as it did earlier. And normally I don't run consecutively like I did because during basketball I either slowed down or ran until I got to my spot to take a break.

This is definitely asthma because in your story, I didn’t catch anything that would have given you anxiety. If you guys had an inhaler on hand, it would of be ok to use it. After this incident, I recommend you go to your pediatrician to get diagnosed. They most likely will give you an inhaler.

I’m thinking that it isn’t an anxiety attack, because usually in an anxiety attack you would have like a feeling of worry or fear before you would have trouble breathing and stuff. It also might be different for different people but that’s just what Ive experienced. I’m not 100% sure what it is though. I’d probably ask a doctor or someone with more medical experience.

And since you drank so much water, that’s also another sign it’s an asthma attack. I just looked up if it’s normal to drink water after an asthma attack and the website recommended to drink plenty of fluids afterwards so that was a good idea.

Okay so I was diagnosed with asthma when I was about 9 and this is pretty much what happened to me. I play a lot of sports and after a couple of tests we found out it was exercise-induced. Your symptoms pretty much match up with mine so you definitely want to see a doctor and tell them everything. They probably prescribe you with an albuterol inhaler and those work pretty well. If it gets worse, go back. Hope this helps 🙂. (btw I am in no way a medical professional, I just happen to know a lot about the subject)
