How old are you? Unless you don’t want to tell. But I think you should tell them that you might need it for school if you ever need to text them to pick them up because I’m only eleven but I think that when you’re older at least in my school district you need to make up some things after school so you need to ask them to pick you up. And if you want to go places by yourself you can tell them that if you have a phone you can text them or call them.

@Elise64 I’m 14. I need a phone for group projects especially since it’s all online. I also can’t talk to my friends either. So...I ask them for one but they say “when u need one” but I need one rn.

Haha I forgot what the title said lol 😂 but did you tell them that you need one? Maybe if they have an old one that you can use I got an old one and it’s fine the battery just dies kinda fast. I really don’t know, I think I just asked my mom if there was an old phone I could have and she said my sister had an old one so I started using that one

Idk what to say, since I only recently got a phone, and I'm in high school. Try to show you're responsible and that they can trust you. Also make negotiations, like my parents are allowed to read my texts, but only when they have a logical reason to. Stuff like that. But when you finally get one, don't download a whole bunch of games and get social media, you just broke their little trust in you and your phone will get taken away.

I would honestly just ask again. Tell them why you need jt and be really polite about it. I also recommend asking for an old phone because then they can’t say that its too expensive bc they already have the phone. Plus, having a phone isn’t all that great. I have a phone, and my parents put so many restrictions on it that its kinda embarrassing. I don’t have youtube, any kind of social media, or a lot of games. I have to request apps, and they have screen time limits on everything. So just think about the pros and cons. Also, I get a lot of random calls and texts that are honestly kinda creepy so...

I was using a keypad phone in 7th grade and finally got social media in 9th grade. I feel you. I suggest to tell your parents the truth like how you need it for group projects. And it’s needed now since you’d rather have it online than physically cuz of covid. If they don’t get you a new one you can ask for their old phones or smthg.

I got mine last year. My dad had an old iPhone that I got. They gave it to me so they can start leaving me home alone and if I go to a friends house or something they like to know that I have it.

It took a while but I gave conditions (it sucks but it’ll go away in a bit hopefully) like that they can monitor my screen hours so that they can see I’m being responsible with it like not always on social media or texting, I also said that a benefit could be easier for me to coordinate with my friends for events or ask help on homework. I also said responsibility and that I would be careful with it because one they be a little pricey and that two the internet is a good and bad thing. Like say that or at least this is what I said I won’t do anything that would put myself in danger and I wouldn’t put anything that I wouldn’t want the world to see (so be smart). And the my strongest point which might suck but it won mine over mention a tracker like easy to communicate between you and ur parents, they would have a much easier time communicating with you like if you need something for school or if you need a ride from an event. They can also track like I promise to be good here look see I’m at school and you can check to make sure. Eventually maybe it would go away because then they trust you.idk if this helped but good luck none the less
