What to do when there's a need for color change at the edge?

If you're using the flat alpha technique, then you don't use that technique when you're switching colors on the edge of an alpha. Put the string that you were just using behind your bracelet and pull out your new color that you need. Then make your knots on the edge, and proceed with the rest of the pattern! [*always remember, never use the flat alpha technique on the edges!] If you want to give me a specific pattern that you need help with, I'd be happy to explain it in more depth!

@rubisaa11 but won't the string stick out at the back when i cut it?

Yes it will, unless you’re doing the straight edges technique. For this technique, you make a forward backward knot onto the right edge and a backward forward knot onto the left edge. This makes it so that the edge of the string is tucked into the bracelet and isn’t sticking out of the end.

@rubisaa11 are you saying to use the straight edge technique but not to use the flat alpha technique with it on the edges? So like put the color to the back, then use the edge color (using straight edge techn) without knotting the old color with it? Not sure how to explain this, sorry. Like put the old color to the back, then do your straight edge with the border color, then pick up the old color again?

Yeah exactly that! Once you complete the color change on the edge (with the straight edges technique, but not the flat alpha) you should just continue with the pattern. It might be the new color, the old color, or one of the already existing colors that you knot with next(if that makes sense) Just follow what the pattern shows and you should be good! 😊
