@Avacado113 Hey! I've had braces on for 3 years in October and I'll hopefully get them off before that. Just a warning it really hurts when you get them on, then it stops hurting. Then you get them tightened and it really hurts again, then it stops. It's literally an endless cycle. Some sort of headache/toothache medication will be your best friend. Good luck! If you have any questions I'll be here ❤️

I've had braces since March 2019. They hurt a lot at first, but they get better over time (at least that's how it was like for me)

@Avacado113 It definitely hurts when you get them on but it depends how bad your teeth are and how you orthodontist wants to deal with it

I’ll have them for a year at the end of this month. Like everyone says it’s bad at first but I don’t even notice them anymore. My teeth actually don’t hurt when I get them tightened. I guess it’s just different for some people. 😊

It hurts the most when you first get them on. But after that, every time you get them on, you’ll just feel tension and a little bit of soreness but it’s not too bad. I took Tylenol when I got them and ate soft foods. Also, always have a mirror with you, because if whenever you eat, you guaranteed to have something stuck in your teeth 😂

it’s super hard to chew for like a few days when you first get them on, i recommend soft foods for a few days. cold foods are good for when your mouth is sore. also, make sure you’re alway wearing your elastics or just doing anything your orthodontist tells you to do, not me but my older brother had to have his braces for 3 extra years because he didn’t listen. good luck!

for me the braces themselves don't hurt that much. they'll hurt for a while the first time you get them on and maybe for a couple days after you get them tightened. but imo the rubber bands for if you have an overbite hurt the most.

I have braces. They do hurt when you first get them on so after your out of the office take some pain medicine. And I suggest getting really soft foods because for me things like bread hurt to chew. Soup, yogurt, anything cold like ice cream helps with pain, and mash potatoes are some good things to eat. Cleaning your braces is also a little difficult when it comes to flossing and getting around brackets so get a water flosser if you can. They are in Walmart and I think Target.

I have had braces for about 2 years now and I say the thing that’s is the worst about them is the tightening, when you get a new bracket, and when you get the connected bands. A trick that helps me when a wire is bothering me is to use beeswax. My orthodontist gives me it when I need it and it really helps. Definitely don’t eat any hard foods after you get your braces. Only soft. They will hurt for 2-3 days a lot and the second day is always the so be ready for that. If your mouth just really hurts then definitely take some medication to help.

I just took mine off 😄 don't worry about braces... putting them on doesn't hurt but it hurts after a few hours. I recommend taking a pain killer after you get them on 😊 you can pm me if you have any questions 🙂

I have had braces for about 8 months and they don't hurt that bad. Just make sure you stay on top of your painkiller for the first few days after getting them on and getting them tightened. I have a few appliances in my mouth right now (an expander on the roof of my mouth to widen my palette and a herbst appliance to move my bottom jaw farther forward) and I found the compared to the other two appliances, my braces weren't that bad.
