Add more gender options

I would like there to be more options for displaying your gender on your profile. Currently the options are male, female, or undefined. I have mine marked as undefined, but I would like it to say I’m trans or nonbinary! I think having this option would make people feel more welcome here.Please forgive me if this is a repeated thread/idea, and please comment if you think this is a good idea too, thank you! PS girls, gays, and theys add me as a friend (or anyone) |

I do agree but I also know that there are a lot of younger people on this site who may be confused or unfortunately people who are offended I am not offended I have friends who are non binary and gay and everything

@poplianna just because they could be confused or offended doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be an option. Seeing nonbinary/trans people in every day life, like on a website, helps people understand.

I do agree that it should be a thing and understand that it helps people understand and accept but I think it’s more about parents like extremely religious ones that if they go on their child’s phone and find that they are friends with someone who has something else as their gender their parents might be mad that’s all we just have to be careful

@poplianna It's more important to validate everyone's gender than to accommodate intolerance. If more inclusive gender options make someone uncomfortable that's not an excuse to force nonbinary, trans and gender nonconforming people to use innacurate labels.

i think this would be a great addition! maybe put this under the site and app section of the forum because that’s where ideas for improvements on the app and site go. also @KFNK i totally agree with you, beautifully said! 🙂

yes, i agree with this! as a trans person myself, i would love to see more inclusive labels and such on here. or even the option to type what you identify as (like in the country section) would be very useful. that way, everyone can have their correct gender identity displayed. and as for people with unaccepting attitudes toward this, they need to learn that trans, non-binary, and gender non conforming people are everywhere. by shielding intolerant people from reality just to avoid making them angry, is erasing real people’s identities. as @KFNK said, respecting people’s gender identities is way more important than trying to accommodate intolerance. also, trans, non-binary, and gender non conforming people already face enough hate and discrimination as it is, so we should all respect everyone and make them feel welcome in this community.

This doesn’t really apply to me but cool idea.. however y’all do have to remember that younger kids like 9 year olds shouldn’t have to get in trouble by their parents and be kicked off of BB ..that is what @poplianna is trying to say...we want to include everyone without getting people in trouble (: still, cool idea.
