I saw in the comments on a pattern that “it would look good with the upside down alpha technique” can some explain or direct me to a tutorial?

All you do is instead of placing the knotting string on top of the string you are knitting onto you place it under the string you are knotting onto then wrap it over and under the same string. It’s the same knot so for a backward knot you place it like a backwards four the only difference is you do the knot under the string
