Request: straight knots alpha tutorial

Can someone make a tutorial on how to make knots really straight when making an alpha?My knots are always angled toward the direction I’m going, making the patterns look messy. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried pulling on the string and knotting tighter, but the problem remains. I’m out of ideas on how to fit my problem. I must not be the only one wondering. 😊 |

at least from my experience, this isn’t really something that you can “fix” ... even the most advanced bracelet makers create alphas with slanted knots (look at the alpha photos that moderator @clairehair has on her account). it’s just the nature of how the knots are made. it isn’t noticeable when making normals because you are knotting onto the string diagonally, but on alphas the slant becomes much more obvious. my only tip would be to make sure you hold the base string straight when you knot onto it 😊

i guess certain people just can make them straighter than others! i still see a slight slant even in their creations so i don’t know...

In my opinion after a few weeks of practice everything turns out much better! If you want you can look through my photos...my first alpha stinks but they get much better! I would make small keychains and practice and then when you make a bracelet as a gift or something you’ll have practice!

I agree with @Tango27, it all comes down to practice. I've been practicing and my alphas are getting a bit better. You just have to pay attention to each and every knot while your making it to make it perfect. If it doesn't help its probably the way your pulling your knots. Try tying them a bit differently and see how that helps.
