Hi!

I am looking for help in getting a normal bracelet pattern into a seed bead or loom pattern. I understand a peyote stitch is helpful, but there's no tutorial for translating normal patterns, only alphas. I can do alphas on a loom. I'd love to be able to make a normal pattern into a seed bracelet without the loom if possible. I'm okay if the normal pattern is not a perfect rectangle, as it is not an alpha.

A pattern I'd like to do is #184690

Any help would be appreciated!

If you use peyote stitch, you should be able to bead the pattern as it is.

Look only at the colours of the knots, not the knot types. The knot types don't matter.

I would do it simply with the colors, it will look a little zigzag but the pattern will look similar. I don't know if you understand: in all the rows there will be 2 seed beads but if you do it with only 2 spaces the pattern will not be very similar so I would do it with 3 spaces and I would join the one on the corresponding side that is left without anything to a space with beads... I hope you understand, that it helps you and that it looks so great!! ❤️

@halokiwi - Is it even or odd count peyote? Is it possible with only 2 beads for every row?

I think it should be even and it should work

This video explains the difference between odd and even: https://youtu.be/66jcN_jO3KE?si=ty6_AYkT1NqGe1x6

I never did peyote stitch myself, so take this with a grain of salt. What do the peyote patterns you follow usually look like?

my idea is only for seed beads:
Cut 4 threads (you will have three spaces for seed beads left) and arrange them.
For the first row, take an orange and a beige bead and place them in the 1 space and the 2 space counting from the left.
pass the thread to the right underneath the other space left.
Grab two beige beads and place them in space 3 and 2 counting from the left.
Pass the thread underneath the other space to the left and continue your pattern!!!
I'm not sure if it's going to look vary good and it's also going to look a bit like a wave or zigzag, that is, not a straight edge as it is, but I think it's going to look pretty good!! I'm going to try it when I can but I hope it works for you and you can do it!! ❤️

You could also try 5 "base" strings

In row 1
- put one bead on string 1 and 2
- put one bead on string 3 and 4
- string 5 doesn't get a bead

In row 2
- string 1 doesn't get a bead
- put one bead on string 2 and 3
- put one bead on string 4 and 5

Ok, I'll give some of these a shot. I have never done peyote patterns before. sometimes beading is faster for me than knotting.

Thank you!

How to peyote stitch pattern #184690:

(Row 1:
String 1 orange and 1 white)
-> only when starting the pattern

Row 2:

Row 3:
String 1 white
Pull string through white from row 2
String 1 blue
Pull string through white from row 2

Row 4:
String 1 white
Pull string through blue from row 3
String 1 blue
Pull string through white from row 3

Row 5:
String 1 blue
Pull string through blue from row 4
String 1 white
Pull string through white from row 4

Row 6:
String 1 red
Pull string through white from row 5
String 1 white
Pull string through blue from row 5

Row 7:
String 1 blue
Pull string through white from row 6
String 1 white
Pull string through red from row 6

Row 8:
String 1 white
Pull string through white from row 7
String 1 blue
Pull string through blue from row 1

Row 9:
String 1 white
Pull string through blue from row 8
String 1 blue
Pull string through white from row 8

Row 10:

Odd rows are worked from left to right, even rows are worked from right to left.

Any questions left?

(I hope I did not make a typo. I recommend double-checking the pattern, if the colours are correct.)
