HI GUYSTHIS IS A REQUEST FOR ALL BB PATTERN MAKERS so I'm making a kwanza pattern and I'm not sure what keywords to add so I open another bb tab and search for kwanza patterns NOTHING huh that's strange I think and so I try an alternate spelling ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I DID NOT FIND A SINGLE KWANZA PATTERN ON ALL OF BB I GET NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE CELEBRATE KWANZA BUT COME ON my next search is for hannukah (I include multiple spellings btw) THERES A SINGLE PAGE???? THATS IT????? next I try Christmas THERES 76 PAGES WORTH OF PATTERNS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE CHRISTMAS TOO AND I GET ITS THE MOST COMMONLY CELEBRATED HOLIDAY BUT FOR PETES SAKE Can we all try to create more diverse patterns please? Everyone deserves to be recognized not just the main stream Im half jewish and trust me when I tell you that diversity matters. Because growing up I never saw a character like me. Nowadays I know of one movie with a jewish mc and HER ENTIRE PERSONALITY IS BEING JEWISH I also know of about 5 shows with a jewish best friend. (A big part of their personalities r also being jewish) at least its something but we are more then side characters! If someone comes on to bb and wants to make a kwanza pattern they deserve to be able to be met with a screen full of amazing patterns. Not the blankness I discovered. So please join me this holiday szn and make some non Christmas patterns. |

I don’t know much about holidays other than the basic American ones (barely know about Hanukkah) but i would be willing to make any sort of alpha pattern (idk how to make normal patterns). I’m just uncultured and wouldn’t know what to make, but I’ll do any suggestion or request within reason 💕

@BabyWren12 do you have any suggestions? I did some quick basic research, and I could maybe do a kinara? Though there seem to be different versions and I wouldn’t know which is the common or correct type. Not sure what pattern you were already doing, though

I mean, people celebrating kwanza are also allowed on bb and can make patterns... People just make what they know. There are a lot of subjects/hobbies/whatever that have no patterns, but be the change you want to be ! I do parkour, wanted to make a keychain at some point. There are no patterns, but then I realized I couldn't think of anything to put on a keychain either lol

If you have specific requests, I can give it a try too. I can make both alphas and normals. Like others said before me, I'm not really familiar with other winter holidays apart from Christmas, so I would not know what to do without a specific request. Even for Christmas there are patterns "missing". Patterns with traditions that aren't your typical North American traditions. There isn't a pattern of Saint Nicholas and there isn't a pattern of Befana. I made a Christkind pattern last year (only to now realise I accidentally misspelled the keyword as Christking which basically makes it impossible to find it). |

@halokiwi @Arkengheis @xdarkfirexthank you all for offering to help! I too am unfortunately not very knowledgeable about kwanza (also spelled kwanzaa) but based on googling I've found out a bit. There are different kinds of kinaras (candle holders) but none or more "correct" then others. It lasts seven days and is a celebration of African and African American culture and is also made to honor their ancestors. Googling has shown me several images that could be helpful in making a pattern such as different kinds of Kinara and some African items and clothing. My recommendation if u r willing is to try and do a little research. People who actually celebrate it will be the best resource. But I am knowledgeable abt hannukah! When making hannukah patterns I would give you this tip: add multiple spellings of hannukah. The most common ones are: chanukkah hanukkah channukah hannukah hanukah chanukah. Hannukah is a jewish holiday that celebrates a miracle. Long ago they ran out of oil but god blessed them to have the oil they did have last eight nights! Hannukah lasts eight nights and during each night a new candle gets lit. Menorahs (candle holders) have 9 candle holding spots (sometimes branches sometimes small pots). The reason for this is because the shamos (candle that lights other candles) gets lit every night and also sits on the menorah, though it is traditional to have the shamos be higher then the other candles its not mandatory. The shamos can either go on one of the ends or in the center of all the candles. Traditional hanukkah food includes matzo ball soup and unleavened bread (matzo) also challah bread. Some families have each family member have their own menorah, some have just one communal one. Its traditional to put the menorah in a window so the world can see its lights. Common colors are blue and silver. |
