Hi all! My name is Shay and I’m getting back into this craft for to make pacifier clips for my brother’s new baby. He will be born in December, and I fell in love with Alpha pattern #62564 (bear with snowflakes) but I’m not able to complete it as an alpha pattern. Could anyone convert (or help me covert) this pattern into a normal style? I’m flexible on how the snow flakes look, but I just adore how the bear looks. Can anyone help? I’d be willing to pay 10$ (Venmo) for a completed pattern that looks good! Thanks for any help that you guys wanna give!!! Thank you, Shay |

Hi 🙂 It's really not that simple to "convert" patterns sadly. But knotting alpha patterns is not that hard, I'm sure you could learn !I have a normal pattern with a bear #173336 but I had to add hearts in between to get the strings back in their rightful places. For the pattern you like, the snowflakes are a different colors from the bear which would be impossible in normals. It might be possible if they were white but I'm not sure. I'm gonna try but I'm not sure it'll work haha |

@Arkengheis since the alpha pattern is a polar bear, I think making both the bear and the snowflakes white would make sense 😄

@halokiwi oh yeah, the snowflakes' color definitely isn't the hardest thing to deal with here haha

I found two patterns that might work for you:#10211 (polar bear with snow flakes) #140112 (my pattern, polar bear but no snowflakes, I could try to edit it to add snowflakes) |

@Arkengehis, it’s actually not so much that I don’t want to learn how to knot alphas. I just don’t like how alphas look knotted. I actually already tried to make this pattern as is.

2 reasons mostly, 1, that I don’t love how the background looks on alpha patterns. I don’t like how each row goes //// and the next goes \\\\\ when weaving alphas. And 2, I don’t like how uneven the snow flakes look with alpha knots. I prefer normal patterns because the knotting is more tidy and it all looks even together. Does that make sense? I checked out all three patterns recommended but feel that none of them capture the bear quite right for what I want. Is it possible to edit just the bear from my original into a normal pattern? Removing the snowflakes entirely? Thank you for your help, @arkhebgehis and @halokiwi!

You should try clean back alphas ! the back actually looks way more like square pixels 🙂 (you can take a look at my pics, i do them all like that)But i did work on a normal, and got something pretty nice i think. I just need to move it from my graphics program to bb 🙂 I also feel like i need to explain that it's not just "convert". Since you've tied normals before, you must realize there's a lot of restrictions with what's possible because of how normals are made. So the "conversion" is just making it from scratch with an inspo pic haha. |

You could also try to do an upside-down alpha. Then you don't have to bother with the clear back 😉

Here it is ! #178160 I hope you like it 🙂 I had to make the background the same color as the snout cause otherwise i didn't have enough background strings at the bottom |

@halokiwi - very cute, thanks so much! 178166 is just so darling!!@Arkengheis - Adorable!!! Is it possible to change the colors? I was hoping to have a brown bear, red back ground and white snowflakes. After looking at the original pattern, I think this color scheme is a "variation" on the original pattern? I can't figure out if it is possible to change to these colors on the normal pattern, based on your reply post, I would guess no? Also, do you both have a venmo? I'd like to "tip" for your help with this! 🙂 I appreciate your skill immensely! |

You're welcome, this was fun 🙂 sadly the only way to have colors like this would be to change string in the middle (which is possible if a little unorthodox, there are some tutorials on youtube)And no need to tip, no worries, and we don't have Venmo in Europe anyway ^^ |

@Shay.96 There is a way to tie Alpha knots without distorsionating the looks of the pattern |
