Hello friends!

I had a medical issue arise this past October that I thankfully resolved in December. My hands were frequently numb and tingly, and making bracelets was very difficult and uncomfortable. I lost a lot of confidence in making them. I still deal with some brain fog, but I miss this community and I still feel inspired to get back into this. My To-Do list keeps growing, and I still aspire to see these made and in my hands.

Do you all have any patterns recommendations that you enjoyed doing, color choices, etc that would help me get going again? I am fully comfortable reading normal patterns and alpha patterns. I have never done any with gaps (aka like threads going through the middle..like they're not knotted if that makes sense). I also have a tremendous amount of colors, so that's not an issue either!

Any tips would help too. I often get discouraged seeing how slow a bracelet takes after seeing a lot of timelapse videos or reels.

Thank you all for any suggestions, I appreciate it! ❤️

Welcome back to braceletbook 😄 I'm so glad you are feeling better.

My go-to colour combination when tying bracelets is probably some type of sunset gradient. Sometimes with a little pink or brown mixed in.

If you are comfortable with tying a shaped pattern without loose strings, I recommend my pattern #89623. It's a shaped pattern of a frog. There are also some other shaped frog patterns by other users that I find super adorable.

If you want to try out a normal chain bracelet, I think #158252 looks super cute. If you want to learn how to make these chain bracelets, there are some videos on #76616 and the user @ponotama also has many great chain patterns and accompanying videos for example pattern #160236

Chain bracelets have the advantage that the chain part goes very fast. Shaped alpha patterns have similar advantages.

Welcome back!
My favorite way to get inspired is with the "challenges" forum. I really like the social aspect of it, and I find it very motivating and fun to be a part of a group like this. I also like to get inspiration from my other interests, like pieces of media that I like, or my other hobbies.

Color combos that I really like are greens and purples, as well as blues and oranges.

As to worrying about your speed, I recommend regularly reminding yourself that reels and videos are almost always sped up. No one can tie as quickly as timelapses make it appear. And besides, it wouldn't do you any good to try and work like other people. They're not you, and you're not them, so the speed and way you make things are bound to be different. It is a hobby, so it should be fun.

If you still want tips for speed, the best one I have is to try and keep your strings organised as you work. You might do well with just making sure to put the strings in designated spots while you work, but if you want an extra assist on organizing, there is a great tutorial for a work board with places to hold your string:

https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/162_the-loca-board-tutorial/

It's a bit too complicated for my personal taste, but maybe you'll like it 😄

Good luck on your work. I hope you have a lot of fun!
