I'm interested in making shaped bracelets with more advanced patterns (like not diamond- or square-based) but nothing's clicking for me yet--the tutorial that already exists, or the video for #35661. I know how to make triangle starts and ends, but that doesn't feel like it's helping me understand 🙁 So I guess I'm asking for more tutorials and videos for more advanced shaped patterns, because something has to work for me eventually, right? |

Try to think of it in small segments instead of as a whole. Looking at the complete pattern at once can be overwhelming, but in the end each slanted edge is just like a regular half triangle start or end.If you take pattern #35661 as an example: until row 5 it goes in, until row 9 it goes out, in until row 13, out until row 19, in until row 21, out until row 25, in until row 29, out until row 31 and then it goes in again. At any point where it goes out, it's just like the starting triangle, you just don't do it completely. At any point where it goes in, it's just like the ending triangle, you just don't do it completely. Maybe you could continue knotting something like this https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/107_shaped-holes-photo-tutorial/ I think it is a little more advanced than a diamond shaped bracelet because it has holes, but it should help you understand that any slanted edge in a bracelet basically works the same Do you have a specific pattern you want to knot? Maybe I could talk you through it or split it into easier to understand parts. |

There are a few advanced shaped patterns I want to make, but for now I think I should be talked through something relatively “simple,” like your #48379. And yes, I would like to try a pattern with a hole in the middle (although not the starry night bracelet yet; the little bit sticking out in the middle is throwing me off)! |

I'm not sure how well I designed that pattern of mine 😅 looking at it, it looks a little annoying to knot 😂 I think I'd need to knot it myself before I can even say if I'd recommend knotting it 😊What exactly is it that intimidates you about patterns like the starry night bracelet? What do you mean by the little thing sticking out of the middle? |

With the starry night bracelet (#34612), the hole in the middle isn’t a perfect circle/diamond. The black fb and bf knots in row 10 are the ones tripping me up.

I picked #48379 because all the diamonds are different sizes. Which I think is one of my big problems here; I don’t understand how to scale up/down, because in normal triangle starts/ends you use all of the strings. With advanced shape patterns, you don’t.

For the pattern of the starry night bracelet, basically whenever there are bf or fb knots at the edges, you make them around all the strings that are loose at that point.I am currently reworking my diamond shaped pattern to also have that included as I believe that this makes it a lot easier to read and understand. For the starry night bracelet there is a really good video by MashaKnots that you can follow step by step. My pattern is just an attempt of writing these instructions down. |

Oh! You didn’t have to make a new pattern, although it is beautiful! If I try to start knotting it after I finish my current WIP, do you mind if I DM you if I am having trouble? I don’t want to be annoying and pester you 😅 🙈 |
